Step one: Tone down that yellow! As sad as I was to kill Prime's majestic yellow crotch spatula, it had to be done. Step two: Prime is a big truck. Big trucks need chrome. It's the law.
Flake? No. It's a solid sheet of foil. Tear? Yes. It's delicate and can't go where parts rub together. Your hands won't hurt it. Resting it on a surface won't hurt it. Draging anything semi-pointy and hard accross the surface will. Veeeeeeery carefully. Razor-sharp hobby knife and a blunt toothpick are a must.
I have some pictures up check out here http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/showpost.php?p=862606&postcount=20
Nice job, but Bare-Metal was far too fragile imo. I tried to restore a G1 Galvatron with it and got nothing but terrible results.
Matrix Soul, those displays are nice. Where do you get 'em, and what do you use to suspend the plane TFs? Fishing line?
You don't happen to have the pictures that showed what went wrong did you? I got the cabinets at IKEA for $69 each, they are fairly simple to assemble, and keeps out good deals of dust, some still manage to get in though, but better than leaving it out in the open. The lines to suspend the planes are from my wife's jewlery making materials, but I think they are the same as fishing lines
Well since it's a curved surface, and the foil is flat, level sheet (of course) it made for a square peg in a round hole type of thing. I had to disassemble both legs (the knee cap is a single piece all to itself iirc...) and I wrapped them in the foil, then gently rubbed it in with a Q-Tip, making sure it sealed and got every panel line. Reassembled the legs, and it popped up, splintered, ripped, and all of it fell off within 10 minutes. Tried it again (with much much anger and impatience) and finally got it to work. Let it sit for a day and the glue held, but I was super careful not to touch those suckers ever again.
