Good morning all. I just finished this guy yesterday, it's my interpretation of Metalhawk. I have never seen Masterforce, but from the first time I saw a picture of this guy, I always thought he was kinda cool, plus he's making an appearance in the IDW comic now. When the Cyclonus mold dropped, I thought for certain the folks at FunPub would see what a no brainer it was to use this mold for an updated Metalhawk. Sadly we got a rehash from the Thunderwing mold instead. ( I know there are people out there who like that one, and I can appreciate what the kind folks at FunPub were trying to do, just not for me.) So, here's how he's built. Grab one Universe Cyclonus. Remove the head and install a balljoint. Take head from Cybertron Defense Hotshot and hollow it out a bit so it can fit over the balljoint. Shave stabilizers off Cyclonus's arms and attach to the back of his legs. Buy Botcon Metalhawk upgrade kit from my good buddy Sunlink > Sunlink - BC12 Metalbirdie v1 Complete Set by sunlink on Shapeways < and modify it to fit the Universe Cyclonus. Primer figure black, then paint. I'm still trying to perfect my painting skills, but what I was going for was a weathered look, because honestly, for someone as average in skill as I am painting, I can make figures look passable this way lol. As always, constructive comments and crits are welcomed and appreciated, thanks for stopping by! Hmmm, something about you seems familiar...can't quite put my finger on it Close up of Sunlink's set Bludgeon wants some Skullgrin is getting some the wrong way lol Big gun all up in your face!
i love it. i recently did a custom using this mold i was able to put the head on a very expressive ball joint what kinda neck joint did u use with yours
I totally second this. Heck, One of these days I might do this myself. Be a nice use of the 3 or four extra cyc's I've got...
Thanks Aprim, nothing like yours though, that thing was insane! Very much appreciated sir! Thanks! I'd love to see that one. Yeah, it does look that way, but because of the way I made the head and balljoint, I can slide his head up and down. As a matter of fact, I have to push it all the way down to transform him to jet mode and have it fit. I basically just took a spare balljoint and drilled it out from the bottom so that a screw could be used to attach it. I then drilled a hole where the old neck used to be and attached the balljoint with a screw from the inside. I hollowed out the CD Hotshot head enough that it would slide over the balljoint. Thank you very much! My thoughts exactly. Thanks bro! Do it, pretty simple to pull off. Thanks man, I was hoping it would be close enough of a match Regular old Testors Gold enamel paint
Looks like the one I posted a while back. I didn't use gold however, I just used yellow. Looks great!
