I recently purchased a Henkei Prowl because my Classics Prowl has really bad paint apps on the doors (the paint rubs off pretty easily). Has anyone else had this problem? Does the Henkei have this problem? It really makes no sense because my Bluestreak and Smokescreen don't have this problem. I also think that my Henkei Ironhide has the same problem on the piece that connects the truck grill and hood piece. Feedback if you please! :D

Yeah, I think most of them had that problem. I know my prowl and my friends Ironhide do.

Yep. I ended up repainting my prowl's windows black and touched up the whites on the doors and roof.

Could this problem be solved with a clear coat over the doors?

Yes, if you can find one that doesn't already show issues.

I got a Henkei Prowl later in the game, that didn't seem to have the paint issues at all. I also got a second Universe Ironhide a good amount of time afterwards as well, that also had good paint.

So they fixed those issues at some point during those figures' run. Not sure how/if you can identify it without opening the packages, though.

I have both the Classics and Henkei versions of Prowl. It took me several tries with the Classics version to get one with good paint on those doors. My Henkei version is still in very good shape. I do not transform them and they have Reprolabel stickers on the doors. So, unless I took those stickers off, the only places that the paint can rub off is on the white and windows.

It's definitely not ALL Prowls...My Universe Prowl doesn't have that issue. But I've read that plenty of them do, so I guess I just lucked out.

My classics Prowl has door issues also but I brought some reprolabels for it. Really surprised to hear the Henkei version has problems as well.

Hasbro and Takara's toys are all manufactured in the same facilities, so provided the toys use the same materials and are produced at similar times, a flaw in one batch probably means similar flaws for the other.

At this particular point in time, the paint Has/Tak was using seemed to having bonding issues with translucent plastic.

Well, that is true but I thought they were made at different times. Didn't the US get Prowl/Classics a year or so before Japan did.

And note that the paint problems persisted up through Ironhide's wave (Wave 3, I believe), so there was a good 3-5 month manufacturing window there.

The 1st batch of Henkei Prowls' had dodgy paint too? Geez! My first Classics Prowl had a very sticky paintjob (I couldn't put him down... :lol ), I tried repainting him, he eventually got binned, I got me a 2nd Prowl about a month later & his paintjob has been perfect. It's good to see HasTak have improved their painting/drying times since then. :)

My Classics Prowl had door issues too. Eventually got the Henkei version. No issues with the Henkei.

My Universe Prowl has been fine since I got him but he was a last restock,
My Henkei Ironhide is totally fine, but uses a different paint to Universe. (Thank god, pinkyorangehide urgh!)
There are definately less problems with the Henkei Prowls, I personally didnt see a bad one, either in or out of package when I was over in Japan.

I've got Henkei Prowl and Bluestreak on the way so I'm going to be careful with them. I only plan to transform each into their robot and leave them there anyways.
