Back in May 2007, I was fiddling around with a Classics Bumblebee, and with the then-recent news about the upcoming white version of him for BotCon (aka Bugbite), I started thinking about alternate colors for this mould. I really liked the idea of blue as a basic color, and thinking about other previous blue Volkswagens, I thought about the blue Microchange, the blue Mexican and then Glyph. Figuring she needed some more attention, I decided to make her. Bought a spare Classics Bumblebee as well as a spare Cliffjumper, did some part swaps, and redid the hood, the roof, removed the spoiler and the engine intakes, and finally Putty'ed and styrened those areas smooth before painting everything. I always figured all the tricked-out stuff on the toy was too masculine for a female character, so I did away with those. Also redid the face to resemble the Microchange toy better (on which Glyph's face was based), which meant cutting the original face out of the helmet with my Dremel, and building a new one in styrene. The face itself is a seperate part that slides into the front part of the helmet, which meant that it was easier to paint up. Hope you enjoy it!
I've seen this in person . Good work. Very, very clean, I couldn't see anything left from the original color.
Ah yes, I remember this lady well. And she's still gorgeous! Butwhat did you wind up doing with the other Cliffjumper and Bumblebee arms?
I really like that a lot! Sanding down the intakes for a more feminine look was a great idea, and part-swapping to get mostly light grey under-pieces really makes it look a lot like the original Glyph. But my favorite part is definitely the face. I always liked the original Bumblebee masked face, and you recreated it very effectively. I would buy a version of the mold done like this in a second. Nice job!
Well, as much of a fembot as the original Glyph did. Or something... I do think it at least looks less masculine, what with the smooth roof, the missing air intakes and the missing spoiler. IMO. Ramrider: Still have those parts lying around somewhere. Posting these pics on this board actually made me consider doing something fun with them of some sort. And big thanks for the kind words to all.
Damn thats nice... Makes me want to go and touch up mine: http://www.tfw2005.com/radicons-cus...lyph-125328/?catid=searchresults&searchid=339
Again, thanks for all the kind words! Rod, I saw yours right after I posted mine. Even though it's pretty obvious that they would look quite alike (being based on the same character and all) I was still surprised at how - at least - the vehicle modes looked so much alike (even though yours is more "souped up" than mine). I guess it's the shade of blue and the silver striping along the edge. I really love the blue forearms on yours - I bet Hasbro would have done that if they did the figure; there's something "production" like about it, that I really like.
