First and foremost, almost no Predacons were harmed during construction. This guy has been in development for a very, very long time. I kept either being busy or getting stuck on certain aspects. Finally put a couple finishing touches on him today though, and, until I feel up to scratch-building some wings, or until I'm enough not-broke to get a set of crazydevy wings, I'm calling him done. His arms in particular aren't anything like I originally intended, but I couldn't work out anything that I liked better and still kept both decent proportions and articulation. I also realized, as other customizers have pointed out before me, Unicron's hips are very unforgivably jointed. If I ever happen upon a supreme Starscream in the future, I'll probably give its joints a shot. I bought a pretty badly trashed Razorclaw for torso parts. All the limbs are completely unmodified and decombine fine though. That was a big goal of this project. Unfortunately, I only have one set of Predacons, so I had to do a two-part size comparison with Unicron as the common denominator. He didn't quite measure up to the original idea in my head, so thoughts and suggestions for improvement are particularly welcome.
Pretty cool so far, but I don't know if you should call this done just yet. I like how you made the clips for the fists, and the feet altered from Unicron. But you could definitely do some more sculpting with his head. I was thinking that if it's possible, you might put the balljoint on his neck rather than on the upper body, and maybe sink the socket into the upper body a touch (Or, sink the socket into the head sculpt?), so his neck is shorter, that may help him look stockier. In that same vein, maybe use styrene or some sort of toy parts on the sides of his upper torso to give the appearance of wider shoulders, as well as hiding those shoulder joints. Then giving him some sort of armor skirting from styrene as well would make him look pretty cool, too. Just my . How tall is he, by the way?
Yeah, his head was definitely what I was least happy about as far as the outcome. I realized really fast that I suck at sculpting. And that was closely followed by the shoulders. I'm doing some thinking on them currently, and keeping an eye out for any inspiring pieces. I'm also thinking that when I get around to either building or buying some wings, the wings being spread out behind will help with his profile and detract from the shoulders. I did almost sink the neck connector lower into the torso, but his head started running too much into his chest shield for my tastes. I was going for a more tall and imposing look than the original thick and squat proportions. Now that you've pointed it out though, it does look particularly thin. I think I'm gonna go back and actually add a neck to him instead of just the small post. The armor skirting is a great idea though. I'm not sure why I didn't think of it myself. He's often depicted with at least some small plates, and it would really help to fill out the empty gaps above his hips. I'm definitely gonna have to jump on that next. And he's about 18-19 inches tall to the top of his antennae.
