They already did, along with Megatron, jetfire, starscream, thundercracker, skywarp, sunstorm.....
I thought that too, but now I'm wondering why they went with the name Grant for Optimus?
Autobot Civil War winner? Sometimes I think those who names these 3P figures don't quite understand the context of the name. General Grant is quite a loaded topic. (plenty of people in the US who wished the South won still)
If they make a War Within Megatron named General Lee, I am going to die laughing!
wish they did the seekers... all 3 molds (IIRC each transformed different and then the Coneheads were remolds of those 3 initial molds, juts different heads, guns and wings)
I can't find any specific examples now but I'm pretty sure there are some products that google translate Optimus Prime to Grantville/Granville. I think I've seen it for MPP10's trailer.
Plus, this won't have been named by Americans who know the intricacies of the Civil War and the delicate politics involved. The naming process would have been "This guy needs a non-copywritten name. The comic was about the start of a civil war, right? And the comic was mainly read by Americans, right? Well find the name of a really important guy from the American Civil War. Lincoln... No. Sherman... No. Grant? That sounds like Grantville, which we've called him before. Print it!"
Ah, that reminds me of this Strange Parts video (the guy who built his own iPhone in China), 15 minutes in where he and Colin (guy who visits all the bootleg clothing markets in Asia) saw this shop/marketing office selling Confederate themed items:
I’m gonna wait for another company to tackle the IDW version. Looks nice enough though
Looks fine but what is this gonna have over spark toys alpha pack?
Better articulation. The company not being dead.
Also it looks better
Oh sorry I didn’t see the good poses where he’s kneeling and ready for high kicks. Yeah that is really nice. And are they that dead? I’m pretty sure spark toys is like a “one great figure each year” kind of company.
That's subjective; The thread seems evenly split on whether they think it looks better or not. I'm focusing on things that are empirical.
Ok then, smaller cup size
About as sure as we can be with a 3rd Party company without them stating it directly. Lunar Toy Store seemed to have the closest relationship with them (getting samples and such no one else did in the US), and they apparently said they think Spark Toys is dead, see quote below.
I will say I’m not sure which I prefer. I like the big huge war machine aesthetic of Alpha Pack. It gives a great character on who this prime is and what he’s about. Although I do like how more proportionate this one is. I’m not sure in summary.
Ahh shame. I still have hope though. However meaningless it might be.
Great work as always @Cheebs
Hahaha that reply was within literal seconds. I'm impressed. And thanks.
