I have a Cordon in the works but I need to find another Sunstreaker head for him.

    Henkei Smokescreen is just beautiful.
(Still can't believe how screwed up Generations Smokescreen's deco was)

If I remember correctly, we only got two of the original G1 triple-changers in a Deluxe Class out of the Generations lines. They were Astrotrain who I missed out on, though from what I’ve seen and heard I didn’t miss much. The other was this guy,
    7A2D79CB-8E92-4262-A1C2-A6492B333636.jpeg
Universe Tankor (Octane) was a somewhat odd fellow. Keeping some aspects of the G1 version such as color scheme and alt modes, this guy was a bit awkward. It just seem quite like Octane, not for lack of trying. After seeing what we got outta Titans Return, this guy surely too a backseat in many fans displays. But as I was playing with it during this photo shoot I remembered how fun this figure was. Tankor has a unique transformation between all of his modes, each with their own distinct look and issues, but the fun factor for me actually helps me overlook those.

Looking at it from the front, this is a good tanker truck mode. I like using the guns as the smokestacks but I have had them tabbed into the side of the truck as well to cover up this.....

The melee weapon doubles as a good canopy for the truck, but the robot arms do just kinda hang out there. This was probably the weaker of the two alt modes, but I’ve seen worse.

Looks decent at this angle too. But I still like the plane mode better.

Everything comes together better in this mode and certain parts hide better. Just be sure not to lose the melee weapon. As the top of the truck and the underbelly of the plane it’s literally the only thing keeping all this together and if it’s lost Tankor is really just a lost cause.

I love the propeller details on this plane, and they all spin freely, nice touch! Both modes could’ve used more color, but looking at these modes as purely functional vehicles helps the suspension of disbelief a bit IMO.

As cargo planes go, it’s not bad. Now the transformation between the two alt modes is pretty cool, and it’s kinda surprising how involved it all is without being annoyingly complex even the change to bot mode.

He’s actually more poseable than I remember too. Before I discovered these forums, I used to be very deadset on the official modes being the only modes, not even allowing myself to tweak the figures even the slightest. Now I have much more fun not following the rules after changing my ways of thinking of and viewing these toys. That’s part of why I think this guy is more fun than I remember. It’s the potential these figures offer that fascinate and excite me. A shift in this guy’s shoulders and a flair of the leg joints and this guy looks like a badass holding a giant lawnmower blade.

I like it when old toys bring new fun and surprises. I love Transformers, including this guy!

I honestly never realised Whirl had such a crush on Magnus. Makes sense now.

Much like me, you need Magna Convoy. I am about to break down and buy that thing in the next month. Nice shots, wish we got all the diaclone cars.

I’m hoping for a Powered Convoy redeco of either CW or Seige Ultra Magnus. I may have to track down Magna Convoy if that doesn’t happen though.

Yeah, when I was first really digging into this hobby and learning about everything out there, Henkei Smokescreen was the first figure that really made me say "Wow, the Japanese version is sooo much better!" It was really satisfying when I finally acquired it. Not only is the deco layout vastly superior, but the bright colors really pop and give the figure life.

The Reprolabels set for Universe Smokescreen improves him drastically, and should be a must-buy for anyone that owns that figure, but it's still nowhere near as good as the Henkei version.

Classics Astrotrain isn't perfect, but he's pretty great (especially if you can track down the Henkel version). Unlike Blitzwing and Octane, he's way more on model in every mode then the TR version.

I still love this guy,hes my Octane on my shelf,he was a voyager hed be even better, same with Astrotrain,I think sizes were off on a lot of the earlier CHUG figures. Glad to see Springer and Blitz got it right.

Apart from his size I'd agree, sold my henkei version and bought LG voyager version he's as decent a fit in my Decepticon ranks. 2018-10-17-20-18-38.jpg

yeah, wish ewe could have the Classics mold in Voyager scale. the LG version is decent enough in robot mode (and if i ever get to have a display again, i'd likely upgrade to him to sync up with Blitzwing and Octane) but the alt modes are just so, so terrible on TR Astrotrain.

Like the faction symbols on the wings a la toon and the purple and red on his middle look cool. The grey is preferable for me to the white toy look for him but some like the white toy style, Takara went some way to polishing the alt modes with extra window paint and the cartoon yellow and purple square on his side. Now we are expecting Siege toys he's going to be a good bridge for the more cybertronian looking cons (Shockwave, probably only Shockwave really oh and Brunt those three will look nice together)
