Has anyone ever played the DS version of the game? I played the first little bit on an emulator, now I'm thinking of getting it the portable version. Is it worth the purchase on this system?

I think it is. The best port. Plays just like the SNES one with the PS cut scenes with a added dungeon.

I know to some, sucky frame rate on RPGs does not bother them.

If it was any other game, I would hesitantly agree but Chrono Trigger needs to be played properly.

I agree with both of the above, actually. The DS game is probably the best version of the game, as it is a perfect port of the original SNES version, but fixes some of the translations and adds some bonus stuff. On the other hand, I really love this game and prefer playing it on SNES on the big tube with a real stereo system since the graphics and music are awesome.

Whatever you do, avoid the PS1 version, which is also the version that shows up on PSN on the PS3 and Vita. It loads constantly, including during every random battle. Terrible.

I just recently made a post about this game since I started playing it again.

I love it on the DS. I love emulators, but DS games are dual screen for a reason.

As Starfire22 said, get it. I just got all the ending and all the items sans the Arena of Ages ones.

I loved it on the SNES, and I think the DS version is the best out there. Outside of changing some names for items that threw me, it's perfect. Animated cut scenes, bonus area with a clever twist, and everything I remembered. I thoroughly enjoyed it on the DS and can take it with me whenever I want.

If you have a program for the Wii U.. It is the best way to play it. Set the DS game in "Classic" format, and then play on your TV and not even worry about the tablet, or just use a pro controller.

Maybe wait if a Mini SNES will be announced and see if Chrono Trigger will be included.

You can play that on TV?

    Any lag?

Is it a DS emu on Wii U?

Okay... I'm not one to condone shady stuff, but since Chrono Trigger for the DS cannot be bought from a legitimate source, I have no problems explaining.

There is a program for the Wii U *homebrew* called loadliine. It can load up "Injected" DS games on the Wii U.

Whatchu talking about, prices are cheap for the DS one. Unless you mean on SNES.

You can play the SNES one on the Wii u already, just boot into Wii mode and get it off the shop.

I actually paid for my Wii U by selling the SNES carts of Final Fantasy 2,3, Chrono Trigger and Earthbound. I then bought them all on VC for a few bucks apiece.

I forgot about the SNES version on Wii VC. The reason I suggested the hack was so he could get all the improvements in the DS version.
