I follow all the TF titles via tpb thus I am not sure how far off the current timeframe this topic is. Was anyone as touched or affected by the the last storyline with Rewind & Chromedome? I love both characters and the entire story just killed me. It made me entirely forget that these characters are robots, supposedly genderless and inorganic. A true testament to the solid character development and writing.
It was the first time in over a decade that I wept over the plotline in a comic book, and their whole relationship (and their individual personalities) resonated with me in ways I probably shouldn't go into in a place like this. I still think Rewind's death could've/should've been dealt with better, but nonetheless I give major props to Mr. Roberts for writing their relationship regardless.
Well, there's always the possibility. But whatever injury he sustained, it was sever enough to dislodge his headcam.
For all the talk that he bolted/welded that camera to his head, don't forget that MTMTE #22 showed he could detach it, too! It was used to take the (sadly-Skidsless) group shot at the end of the film.
Their relationship, along with Cyclonus and Tailgate's unlikely friendship, is among my favorite parts of MTMTE. I find it especially powerful in light of Chromedome's coping mechanism when it comes to difficult memories, and how he grows through the relationship. Heck, most human-centered comics can't manage that level of affecting, never mind comics about talking robots. Sometimes it's good to be surprised!
Rewind's "I love you." Nearly brought me to tears. MTMTE 16 was without a doubt one of the most heartfelt issues/episodes of Transformers media to date.
It was the only time a comic has ever brought me to tears. Ever. Rewind's death hit me harder than even Dinobot's. MTMTE is an incredible series. I can't wait till Dark Cybertron is over and we can go back to it.
Yeah...that was an amazingly emotional moment. It's one thing to step back and remind yourself these are just comic characters.. It's on a whole different level when these characters are robots. Excellent writing and character development by IDW.
This really got my heartstrings too, for this franchise it was an incredibly progressive and ambitious moeve the thread on this issue makes a fascinating read in itself the fandoms reaction was incredible on a number of levels. On a related topic I could see overlord being the sadist he is with a probable grudge against chromedome given his long elaborate megatron grudge potentially repairing rewind and keeping him in a state of hopeless pain or maybe brainwashing rewind in some way and setting up a mtmte season 2 confrontational and nasty reunion between the three. The amount of guilt chromedome would feel coupled the mixed feelings of seeing rewind still alive would inevitably slowly mangle our heartstrings with a chainsaw only to set them on fire after. Roberts isn't the type to do this sort of thing to us, is he? oh dear
