(Sorry if this is a thread that has been made… I did a quick search and found nothing) Seeing as we’re less than a week away from Christmas I’m wondering if there’s any big transformers gift memories you have? A big thing you really wanted that your parents got you? A surprising gift you didn’t think you’d get? Love to read any stories y’all have :3
Christmas 1986, my folks got me Sky Lynx, Hot Rod and Galvatron, and my grandma got me Trypticon and a huge UPS box filled with a bunch of other figures that I can't recall (my grandparents were pretty well off, and she apparently went to TRU and got me one of everything they had). I was one happy kid that year!
Jesus that’s the tale of dreams… I can imagine every other kid was jealous when you told em lol. I mean I’m jealous right now.
I remember one Christmas my parents got me the transformers cybertron leader class Optimus prime. I don’t remember what year nor how old I was, but it must have been around 2005 when I was 5 years old lol
Me and my brother getting OP, Megatron, and Scourge for Christmas. Got sick so me, my dad, and my uncle stayed home while the rest of my family visited the grandparents. Spent all day trying to get all the configurations I could with OP just going of memory from watching Cybertron.
I never really thought about this until I saw this thread but I never really got many Transformers for Christmas. My Christmas memories are mainly of He-Man MOTU, GI Joe, and Dino-Riders. Seems like TFs were saved for my birthdays. I remember only three times I ended up getting a TF for Christmas: - In 87/88, I do remember getting a G1 Skullcruncher for Christmas. -2007/2008 - I got a Transformers Animated Prime vs. Megatron 2 pack from my Dad. This one was special because up to this point my dad would tease me collecting TFs and would keep telling me they were baby toys. During this year, I ended up having to sell some of my valuable TFs to help pay a bill and he was shocked how much I was able to get for them. After that, he became more accepting, I think this was his way of saying "I'm Sorry" for all the teasing he gave me over the years. (This year is the second Christmas without my Dad and this is always one of my best Christmas memories of him) -2019 - My brother and his family got me a SS DOTM Soundwave.
My mom will never stop telling me about the Christmas she had to drive 100 miles to find G1 Fortress Maximus. To this day she still calls it “Megatron” lol I don’t remember unboxing it very well because I’m certain my mind was absolutely blown. He was easily my favorite Transformer as a child. I still have him and all of his parts, even though they might be due for restoration. I’ve sold off some stuff here and there from my collection, and even when things were tight I never let go of him. He stands proudly next to his slightly newer TR counterpart, which I had to drive only slightly less far to track down…
Christmas 1987 was my most memorable Christmas in regards to toys: - Fortress Maximus - Computron - Wreck Garr - Listen 'N Fun Cliffjumper (yellow) - GI*JOE Triple T w/ Sgt. Slaughter - GI*JOE Listen 'N Fun Tripwire - M.A.S.K. Goliath - M.A.S.K Stinger - Laser Tag
2007: I was SUPER EXCITED for Transformers animated and desperately wanted the toy line and It wasn't meant to come out till a little bit after Christmas in my area at the time. But come Christmas day, my family manged to get me and deluxe Prowl( one of my favorite characters in the whole show) and a deluxe Bumblebee (which I manged to break within a few months of owning it lol) 2011:I remember being extremely ill that year, basically staying up all night on Christmas eve and into Christmas vomiting into the toilet. In the morning I stumbled out into the living room to see a massive present for me. I weakly opened it up to see Ultimate Optimus Prime (the Supreme class one with a trailer) I was extremely happy and went to thank my family, but had to quickly sprint to vomit my guts out once again. A little gross of a story but whatever lmao
I recall getting Sunstreaker and Jetfire for Christmas 1985, and Skullcruncher in 1987. Edit: And how could I forget my parents giving me UW Devastator in 2015!
Probably Christmas 1987, there's a big box under the Christmas tree, and it's full of second hand /preowned Transformers, my parents had found someone selling them in the paper and went to their house hoping to buy Galvatron for my brother and Grimlock for me, instead they bought the whole collection. Must have been a dozen or more pieces. I distinctly remember Dirge and Thrust, our first seekers, Bombshell and Kickback, Astrotrain, Tailgate and Sandstorm.
Christmas, 2010, I'm waiting for my family to wake up so I can go ahead start opening my gifts. The first gift I open is a Hunt for the Decepticons Terradive, I'm excited, I've heard nothing but good things about that toy. I open another gift...and it's Hunt for the Decepticons Terradive. I reach for another gift, which is another Hunt for the Decepticons Terradive. Christmas, 2010, and I got three Hunt for the Decepticons Terradives
Nothing because nobody gives a crap about me in my "family". However I did buy myself a SS Long Haul for myself and that made me feel great.
I don't have any good Christmas stories involving Transformers. My parents didn't have a lot growing up, so we mostly got clothes. So I've been trying to make it up to my son by getting him a Commander Class every Christmas, but he's more into videogames like Minecraft, Roblox, etc. So I guess I'll just have to continue buying all the things I wanted as a kid... for myself.
Christmas 1984: Soundwave was #1 on my wish list. Santa hit the bullseye. He also got me Mirage, Prowl, and Trailbreaker that year.
The one that started it all G1 Optimus Prime back in ‘84. My cousin and I both got one. So awesome. should mention I still, somehow, have him complete (including all those little things like the gas hose and nozzle) and in good condition. Crazy.
Ever since I saw my neighbor with a bunch of transformers in 1985, I kept asking my mom for Optimus every Christmas and birthday but parents couldn't afford much then. But on Christmas day in 1987, I almost cried as unwrapped a long box and saw a Transformers logo. It was Ultra Magnus. My mom couldn't tell the difference between him and Optimus. She asked if that's the one I wanted, of course I lied and say yeah. I was disappointed but appreciative at the same time. It was a big deal because it probably cost more than they could afford. To this day I still have him and the box, minus a missile.
