I read the thread about Amar being swindled (no TF-pun intended) by this guy. I just wanted to add that I had been, too, so that anyone and everyone knows a little more about just how much this guy did to screw over people.

I have gotten customs done by several customizers so paying Chris in advance didn't worry me. The fact that he had several positive posts about him around the 'net also sorta secured it for me.

Here's a quote from an email from him (early on in our conversations about the customs) which also led me to believe he was legit:

"I suggest holding on to your funds because I have this huge project that I plan on releasing between November and December 2009. I promise, these figures will be the highlight of the year! Seriously, hold on to your funds… and NO it’s not a highly detailed ROTF devastator.. ;)  It is classified “TOP SECRET”…"

I've got a lot going on so I wasn't on top of him like I could have been, but I was in touch every couple of weeks. Another customizer took 4 months to get me a figure, so Chris asking for more time seemed par for the course. Even so, he managed to string me along for over 6 months (hind sight is 20/20) on the 4 figures he was doing for me.

I've got to think he had the best intentions. Not only have I spoken with him on the phone, but I sent these figures to his "home" address in Daly City. All conversations seemed cool, but then I got an email back in April - now he's disappeared from the face of the 'Net.

I paid him $450 down, plus sent him the Alliance BB, Leader Optimus, Deluxe Ratchet (all purchased at Amazon.com and direct shipped to him) and a trailer to be used for a Magnus. All told, I'm out over $600.

I don't think I'll ever pay for a custom again without holding the customizer to a timeframe that would still allow me to get my money back from Paypal. In this case, although I didn't go for the "pay me as a gift" thing, the timeframe to file a claim had long run out. I am pursuing it through Visa though.

Any and all info anyone has on this guy can be PM'd to me here. You can read a post I made at another site, too, where someone suggested victims of this guy band together. I'm open to suggestions here as well.

Yea, I've heard about his shady business transactions too. That's sad, I remember seeing his work and all of it is so nice, but his ethics kind of shames the business side of the customs community. To bad too. I think the shipping the toys directly to his house part would set off some bells in my head, personaly though. Good luck to you with trying to get your money though.

Yeah, he didn't have the figures to paint...because of the discount he was giving me, he asked that I buy the figs. Hind sight is 20/20.

It's one thing to have you buy the figures, but to have you ship them directly TO HIM seems just odd... I mean, you probably could have just as easily gotten the figures from the store and sent them to him, but with that said I suppose there isn't much of a difference there as he'd get the figures regardless.... Still odd though.
