Well, he we go. I said I was working on more heads and here's the next in the series. Everyone's favorite velociraptor: Dinobot!

I'm really happy with how the sculpt came out this time. This one would be perfect for casting and reproducing. The only thing I don't like is that it came out a little too big to look really great on the original toy. It still fits and lets the toy still transform, but he ends up having a pretty large noggin. But he kinda had a big head in the show, so that's okay, I guess. Anyway, because of the size, it'd be perfect for like, Alternators-size TFs, though.

The first pic is with a muted flash and the second is under normal lighting. You can see more of the details sculpted into the face that way.

Anyway, comments and criticisms are appreciated!

EDIT: Updated with a new pic of the modifications I've done to it since posting. I mounted it on a homemade balljoint and neck made from a q-tip (the q-tip was soaked in super glue, then dipped in water to set it, forming the ball) and I thinned down the fins on his head and made the eyes smaller. You can't really tell from the pic that I did that, though.

Awesome. If you cast it, I'd buy a copy. I'd find something to do with it.

    Thanks for the comments guys.

I've been looking up and thinking about buying some Hydroshrink to make my heads a little smaller (Waspinator's was a little too big too, if any of you remember that) but I haven't found any detailed pages or faqs about making the Hydroshrink not shrink so much. That, and I'd have to buy casting materials and everything and I just don't have the money to do that right now.

Anyway, up next on the agenda, as far as head-making goes, is Beast Wars Scorponok. I already have the base head shape sculpted. After that I may do a new head for Blackarachnia. I've already kitbashed one to be show-accurate already, but the head's a little small for my taste. It's just the head the toy came with but I filled in the slot for the neck and sculpted a face onto that so the head doesn't fold down to make the Mutant Mask anymore.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do after that. I was thinking of making a head for my Universe Blaster, but depending on how well Sculpt-bot's version comes out, I may not. I'd rather have a modernized version of the G1 toy's head. Not a cartoon-accurate head.

Anyway, if you guys have any suggestions about heads you want to see me make, leave it here and I'll see what I can do!

You know Chaos, I would love to see what you would do for some of the movie-verse figures such as Starscream and bumblebee. Your skills are amzing, and I think you could probably do a bang up job on the movie figures.

    Thanks again, guys!

I don't think I'll be making any Movie-verse TF heads as that's just way too complicated for what I wanna do. I'm pretty sure I could do it, but it's just too involved. The heads the toys have already are accurate enough for my tastes so that's another thing. I could make brand new heads for characters that didn't get made though. So that's always an option.

Anyway, Scorponok should be done soon.....ish. Once I'm done with him I'll probably paint Waspinator's and Dinobot's heads along with Scorpy and post up a thread for that.

In the meantime, I have another project going on, so check out the thread for that.

Looking at the head, I don't see it as being too big. As long as the figure can still transform properly, I'd say you're good to go. Slap some paint on it and post more pictures.

Overall it's a wonderful head sculpt that should have been done for the reissue line. The details are great and you captured Dinobot's brooding demeanor quite well. If you ever decided to make molds for these, I think they'd sell quite well.
