Chile releases official study on UFO photos | Leslie Kean
Just saw it on Yahoo. Seems interesting of Chile to come out.
But that thread title though.
Oh boy, a tiny blur! Take that non-believers!
UFO just means unidentified, it doesn't mean it's extraterrestrial.
Though most discount it as a cop out or cover up, the USA does have some highly classified drones and aircrafts. I'm willing to bet that most sightings are merely that.
Who knows though...
It's interesting, but my guess is a drone of some kind, if a bug or piece of debris flying close to the camera(the focus is far enough out that anything passing close to the lens would be distorted like that).
More pics of swamp gas.
I wonder how the witnesses determined the size and distance given that there appears to be absolutely nothing for them to use as a reference apart from a large, empty, crystal clear blue sky.
I love that guy, so enthusiastic about there being no plausible explanation except aliens. "they had no tools to carve this hieroglyph, it must be aliens"
We can't see the end of our universe but i guess its safe to say there's nothing out there .it is a popular opinion for those who believe they are the first and last answer to everything
The guy's a putz. A lot of folks (including said clown) really underestimate the ingenuity and engineering capabilities of our ancestors. Ancient civilizations don't necessarily equate to them being primitive when it comes to math and astronomy. "Oh, those brown people made this? No way, aliens totally did it (or helped them do it)!" It's a pretty dismissive and frankly patronizing/insulting attitude.
Actually, statistically it's unlikely that we are the only form of intelligent life in the universe. However, it's also statically unlikely that another form of intelligent life is just hanging around Chilean copper mines. Don't you think, if they travelled all that way, they'd want to at least say "Hi!"?
Oh, that's right! It's a government conspiracy!!
We kill n torture our own people i wouldn't wanna say hi if i were them. Being curious about our natural resources seems reasonable.
Its called the Drake equation. A math formula to estimate the possible number of intelligent species in our galaxy. It was created by Franics Drake and Carl Sagan.
N = The number of civilizations in The Milky Way Galaxy whose electromagnetic emissions are detectable.
R* = The rate of formation of stars suitable for the development of intelligent life.
fp = The fraction of those stars with planetary systems.
ne = The number of planets, per solar system, with an environment suitable for life.
fl = The fraction of suitable planets on which life actually appears.
fi = The fraction of life bearing planets on which intelligent life emerges.
fc = The fraction of civilizations that develop a technology that releases detectable signs of their existence into space.
L = The length of time such civilizations release detectable signals into space.
Within the limits of our existing technology, any practical search for distant intelligent life must necessarily be a search for some manifestation of a distant technology. In each of its last four decadal reviews, the National Research Council has emphasized the relevance and importance of searching for evidence of the electromagnetic signature of distant civilizations.
Besides illuminating the factors involved in such a search, the Drake Equation is a simple, effective tool for stimulating intellectual curiosity about the universe around us, for helping us to understand that life as we know it is the end product of a natural, cosmic evolution, and for making us realize how much we are a part of that universe. A key goal of the SETI Institute is to further high quality research that will yield additional information related to any of the factors of this fascinating equation.
The last full run of the Drake Equation in 2012 estimates the following for our galaxy alone: ( since then we have discovered approx 1500% more exo- planets suitable for life)
up to 15,785 advanced technological societies could exist in the Milky Way. -
the average distance we should expect to find any alien intelligent life form may be 2,670 light-years from Earth. There is a 75% chance we could find ET between 1,361 and 3,979 light-years away. -
500 light-years away, the chance of detecting any signal from an advanced civilization approaches zero. And that is exactly the range in which our present technology is searching for extraterrestrial radio signals. So, the “Great Silence” detected by our radio telescopes is not discouraging at all. Our signals just need to travel a little farther – at least 900 light years more – before they have a high chance of coming across an advanced alien civilization. -
I love his hairdo. It immediately says the next thing out of his mouth should be taken with the utmost reverence.
Chile spices up UFO debate....
Heh that's wonderful.
| NASA the drake equation might be outdated
He's clearly an advanced scout, from the Centauri Republic.
