My understanding is that it's based off the european version of the car.

What I don't understand is why in the *hell* did Hasbro not include this in the movie line? This thing had endless repaint potential as it's one of the best looking generic car bot molds in a long time.

I can't wait to get mine. I wonder when us U.S. fans who ordered them will get them.

Has anybody's card been charged yet? What're the tax and custom charges? I've got no shipping email and/or bank charges yet.

Well, I got a nice e-mail back in regards to my queries from Thibault at Chevrolet Europe.

He confirmed for me that to ship this to North America, it would cost 25 GBP in documentation fees PLUS 48 GBP for shipping.

So in case anybody's still uncertain, that's about $150 in extra fees, on top of the cost of the... small... plastic... toy.

I think I'll pass on this one. Even if I got a UK friend to order it and ship it to me, it would be the most expensive deluxe figure I own, and he's sort of cool, but not SUPER cool. I have to draw the line somewhere :(

Supposedly, Chevy ordered this toy from Hasbro, Chevy paid for it and Chevy alone decides what is done with it.

Is there any chance that they could remold parts of the figure to make it more generic and then sell that in the mass market Universe line, like what they did with RiD X-Brawn to avoid paying royalties, or would that be in violation of whatever contract they signed with Chevy? Times like this I wish I were going to BotCon so I could ask the Hasbro guys directly.

I mean, licensed alt-mode deluxe with excellent robot mode is totally kickass, but by no means is it $150 kickass. Generically realistic alt-mode deluxe with excellent robot mode is totally $10 kickass, though. And it'd fit in with the other new Universe deluxes just fine with a little bit of robot mode remolding.

I suppose I'm just holding out a tiny bit of hope that I'll ever be able to get this mold without having to pay an arm and a leg for it. Probably never happen, though.

I demand a few more claification... I wanted to further understand those custom fee and shipping fee comparing to UK verses to US.

Are there extra charges applying to a buyer from UK ?

Do these extra cost apply if it is to be shipped from UK to US by any individual ?

Mine arrived today and sadly I was out.
The nice UPS man left me a delivery note tho, so I no have to rearrage delivery.
Can't wait to get my hands on the figure, it looks really nice.

I sort of expected that. UPS doesn't even offer an international option from Europe to the USA that doesn't cost less than $90 for a 1 lb item...

I didn't order one but I doubt it. I'm not even sure about this "customs fees" to be honest - since surely the receiver pays the customs charge on receipt?

All part of Chevrolet's fragile and complex 77-step plan to increase market share overseas. ;)

I don't find it ironic as Chevy is a worldwide company and not just confinded to the US. I sent an email through their website and they responded that I should call their customer service line. When I called the man told me that they had no plans to release it here due to liscencing fees, and it was a European exclusive. It sucks cause I would like one at a resonable price, but it is nice to see collector's in Europe getting stuff that is not avalable in the US.

I think he looks alot like Robo Cop in bot mode. We just need it in flat black with silver bot parts.

I don't think so. The Chevrolet Aveo is produced by GM Daewoo in South Korea and released all over the place under a couple different names. But the car is the same everywhere, I think.

I'm fully aware that they're an international company, and I was mainly commenting on the high cost of obtaining/importing one back on the company's home turf. I understand the need to reach out to new customers, and toys are more prevalent in Asia, you'd just think Chevy would toss a bone to us stateside fans as well.
