So this seller "tfsan" seems borderline scam-artist (or just silly) with the way he sets his auctions up.

    http://cgi.ebay.com/transformers-al...oryZ4696QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

^ Here he has $425 for just a display case, and in a dodgy move he has alternators Windcharger in the title and in the pic but then states in small writing the auction is just for the display case (not that it would be any less of a rip-off with the alt in it).

    http://cgi.ebay.com/transformers-mo...oryZ4696QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
    http://cgi.ebay.com/transformers-en...oryZ4696QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

^ Now here's some 'ready to be AFA' items sold at AFA prices (or more even!) when all he's done is package the item in a box (and doesn't actually show the item in the picture, which given his windcharger/'case only' auction is a bit sketchy)!!!

^ And for a last laugh here's opened (mib) BW Scorponok for $150

It's more expensive than it should be, but it doesn't seem deceptive to me. The first words in the auction are "Description: only display case !!!!the 2 prototype alt. windcharge ARE NOT INCLUDED in this auction!!!!" and that text is in the same font as all the other text. That the two Windchargers are shown in the case makese sense, because it demonstrates how the case is supposed to be used.

That is not deceptive at all to me. Everything is clearly spelled out.

Compare it to a recent Ebay item I won.. I bought a camera off ebay a few months back. It was refurbished but the title did not state this. The word refurbished WAS in the description, but it was (and I actually counted) the 1900th word, or so. And it didn't say refurbished but rather "reburished as NEW" (whatever that means) with "NEW" in font much larger than the "refurbished" and in all caps. THAT was a deceptive auction. The display case is not.

That is weird and, again, expensive, but not a scam. Just a guy doing a really crappy job selling his items. No one wants to buy items that they can't see pictures of with an "I PROMISE THEY ARE GOOD CONDITION" statement :p

I don't see how it affects the display case auction.

Again, way too expensive, but not a scam...

You're right Might Gaine, they're not really scams (assuming the cardboard boxes have something inside them), I shouldn't have typed 'seems like borderline scam artist' in my opening line of the thread as that was more of a side thought to just generally being confused and amused by his zany auctions.
More like sneaky, or if short of that then confusing as to why he'd do certain things like mentioning Windcharger alternator at all in the display case one (I see the other text id'ing the case only in that one now) or not displaying his items before he boxes them up for 'afa-ready'.

Wasn't trying to call him a flat-out scammer, that's why I put 'crazy antics' in the title instead of 'check out this scam-artist' but geez, this guy tries some weird antics to try to make an extra buck (or an extra hundred bucks...:lol )

That said, that Windcharger display case is really nice. Not $450 nice, hell, not even $50 nice, but still nice.

This guy is crazy but I'm sure somebody will spend the money on his auctions...That's the beauty of ebay.

What is the diff between the real deal and a "test shot" ?

I guess furthermore proof that afa has reduced our beautiful hobby to a poor excuse for an investment plan.

The response he left to a question in the auction bolded above, says stay away!

    Q: IS IT 1# OR A CASE??Jan-12-08

A: hi there, when i ship my item to AFA, i do a custom mesure box to make sure that the toy will not be damage during shipping, on top of that i will used lot of bubble wrap to make sure that the item will be very well protected in a big strong solid shipping box all my grade so far have been afa 90 to afa 95 because i choose the best one and pack they so carefully! in the picture, decepticharge is inside the custom mesure box, i tape it , that is why you only see the outside box again, i can not promise the final grade, but you never know thanks

I don't think calling him a "borderline scam artist" is unreasonable--yeah, he notes the Windchargers aren't for sale...after he includes them in the title, ensuring they'll show up in a seach for Windchargers, and has the primary picture showing them.

If they weren't in the title, and the picture was a secondary picture in the listing, it wouldn't be shady. But as is, I think he's being intentionally deceptive.

The $425 asking price is a big red flag also.

    Indeed!

This seller is mental. If anyone actually bids on any of his auctions, they are even more mental, hahahah
