That's really unfortunate, I'm very sorry to hear another fan convention has fallen. Best of luck to the organizers and hopefully the convention hasn't hurt them financially in any way.

Wait, there was going to BE a 2014 show? I thought the plan had been to take a year off after 2013. I don't think I'd ever heard a 2014 show was in the works.

EDIT: Clicked the link, read the post. It IS the 2015 show that's been cancelled, and the show itself is no more. That is terrible news. Particularly considering how fantastic the 2013 show was.

Wow, after seemingly doing so well last year I figured another one was a given. Charticon was maybe the most fun I've ever had at a TF convention.

I've never been to it, but it sucks to hear the news.

A lot of folks have no clue how much money, let alone time setting up and running something is involved.

    Hope it returns.

It scares me, because Charticon was by far the largest fan run Transformers Convention I had been to, and they couldn't make a go of it. Seems the return on investment for guests is just too small. Thankfully the other con I go to, Dairycon, doesn't splurge on guests, so it keeps the costs down.

It's sad but not surprising....the dairycon convention costs the guy running it alot of his personal funds to run the convention so it's not surprising that a larger setup is having funding problems also.

Sucks, maybe they should have tried to get a corporate sponsor like alot of sports programs do for $$$ donated to the cause they could run a series of T-shirts with the sponsors logo on it....or something...

I saw alot of little league baseball teams and pygmy football do this in the past for their sponsor's efforts of donating $$$ to their cause.

Sorry to hear about this. While I have had nor the time nor the motivation to get a convention going here in the deserts of AZ, I understand the difficulties and potential costs involved in such an undertaking (hence the non-motivation). We all like to think that there is so much interest in Transformers in our own areas to keep something like this going, it is still a difficult undertaking and takes a lot of dedication.

Never been to Charticon and I am not sure I have met or know any of the folks involved in running the 2013 convention, but I would offer encouragement in that I would not give up for future years. Keep the dream alive! With the economy continuing to improve (1 can hope :) ) and movies 5 & 6 still to come, future Charticons will come :thumb  and maybe even a Cacticon one day :D

That's a bummer, Charticon was a great show and I was glad I was able to make it there after all as a dealer. I was pretty impressed by the show on almost every front, and was looking forward to another round.

This is horrible news. I went to Charticon it was my first and still only official Transformers con. I had a blast. It was a fantastic event and probably the highlight of 2013 for me. Met so many great people there and saw so many amazing things. It will be missed.

One of the highlights of my life last year was getting to hang out with the both of you guys there.

Reading the news, I still think there is a glimmer of hope down the road.

At any rate, I still want to make some future arrangements to hang out with the both of you guys again as well as quite a few others I met there.
