[sexist]Well, at least it looks like something you'll be able to take your girlfriend to.[sexist] Very Dawson's Creeky. Its okay if he's young, but there wasn't anyone else who didn't star in a string of crappy teen dramas/movies?
I gotta say, I was dissapointed when I read the news this morning. I'll wait until I see the trailer to pass full judgement but for now I'm not too hot about G.I. Joe.
i gotta say... i prefer it that way. no names tend to make a better movie, then the bigger super stars. just in my opinion though.
You know, I will see the movie regardless, but I am really annoyed at Hollywood as a whole for seemingly making movies with the main cast being younger and younger. I would say it's because I am getting older, but remembering back in the 80s, some of the biggest action stars were in there 30s: Arnold, Stallone, Chuck Norris, Kurt Russell, Harrison Ford. It isn't necssarily that them being young bothers me, but there is that baggage that comes along with it, such as terrible romance side storys, crappy pop music soundtrack, actors that stand their with expensive clothes on so they can sell fashion products, etc. In addition, Duke's rank would require some amount of age to obtain. Oh well, I'm not passing juedgement yet. We'll see. I don't think I have ever even seen him act on anything anyways.
Let me help everybody out here. Remember the trailer for that lame movie about the guy who is a janitor at that dance school, and the chick falls for him, and he uses his urban groove dance skills to light the world on fire and win some kinda lame dance competition? You remember, you saw the commercials and said "Ha! That looks like twenty gallons of suck in a five gallon bucket. Hella lame." Remember it now? Well, that dancing janitor? He's Duke. Yeah, the Duke that kicked ass and took names. The Duke that didn't take any shit. The same Duke that led a legion of hard-ass soldiers against one of the greatest threats to freedom of all time. Yeah, well, he's a dancing janitor now. Enjoy. I'm going back into exile.
So THAT'S the first one. I just saw a commercial for the SEQUEL to that on tv and wondered "WTF there's TWO?!" I fear for the GI Joe movie. I really do.
im also getting the feeling like the fans will feel they got screwed over. well at least they had a precedent in the original animated movie (going to video, duke's non-death, cobra fricking la )
In my honest opinion, I personally feel that this is not fair to G.I. Joe fans, as they should get the same great treatment we got with TRANSFORMERS. I'm not just speaking for Joe fans of the 1980's cartoon, but for all Joe fans since the toy line's inception. They've waited this long for a live-action movie, and for that, I think they deserve a better payoff than we received. Or at the very least, one of equal value. It's perfectly fine if many of you disagree with my stance, but the more I hear of this film, the more I fear for this film. As of now, the only thing that has truly pleased me with this movie is having Ray Park star in the role of Snake Eyes. Personally, I wanted him or Christian Bale for the role, and one of the two is better than none at all. I just hope this movie turn out well enough to keep G.I. Joe going, as the toy line itself has experienced many hard times and unfortunate hiatuses.
