Kojima is free from the clutches of Konami.

    Finally.

This is almost exactly like what happened with SCEJ and Fumito Ueda back in 2011.
Nice job sending your creative minds packing... Konami 1969 - 2015

There's also Tomonobu Itagaki, and Keiji Inafune, who each left their companies for pretty much the same reasons. The main problem is that very traditional Japanese businessmen run their gaming industry, and they're all stuck in their ways. Nintendo is one of the few exceptions. Supposedly it has a lot to do with them being a Kyoto-based company, while most others are Tokyo-based.

...No it'll mostly be dead. I'm beginning to think that KONAMI is gonna want to reboot the entire series from scratch and do yearly releases like Ubi does with AC.

Let us bow our heads to once great franchises Konami produced...

    Contra

    Castlevania

    Suikoden

    Gradius

    Silent Hill

    ...and now Metal Gear Solid...

To think companies like Konami, Capcom, Square, and Enix used to rule video gaming....

There goes that new Silent Hill Konami was going on about back in Sept.

At least it means they can finally put MGS to rest since the seires has gotten way too convoluted for its own good.

I thought Lord of Shadow sucked ass. They were Castlevania by name only, not by gameplay or story. They couldn't even give any of their games an actual ending nor did they even know how to do Castlevania music.

It should be done. It's not Metal gear unless Kojima part of it. I don't want to see Konami run it to the ground.

I totally agree with this. It should have been called God of War: Lord of Shadows. It was nothing like Castlevania and it is a shame.

That's not good news, that's terrible news. It is already bad enough Kojima has screwed up his continuity, but having someone else work on the series entirely is just going to make it unrecognizable.

... I guess no matter how you call it this is gonna be one of those rare occasions in gaming history where a major franchise that's run for over 30 years where the main story has started , middled , and ended under the direction of the same person.

What I was trying to say was that the Metal Gear series is still alive.

And what I am saying is it should be done after 5. The end no more new stories. Konami destroyed most of their franchises already. The only reason why Metal Gear didn't was because of Kojima. If he is out of the picture then it might be doomed. I won't mind remakes as long as it doesn't ruin what Kojima done.

Oh, now I see. I sure hope Kojima's replacement will stay true to the previous titles.

Yet people are pissed because Capcom won't make another Megaman game without Inafune.

It's more of Capcom's attitude towards the franchise that makes us mad though. Plus, Inafune was not behind every MM game. Of course, these days, Capcom couldn't make a good game even if it was handed to them and all they would need to do is print it.
