So, now they aren't making any good games anymore?

They haven't had any good games in a "long time" outside of the MGS Series and the Castlevania Lords of Shadow Trilogy.

According to a well-known Japanese games coverage dude, Konami has been hit with massive layoffs before the start of their fiscal year on April 1st (No. Not April Fools, Japan rarely does anything for that) including the studios for their Love Live (what) games. Kojima Productions appears to have been another one scrapped.

What a fucking bummer of a month for games. :\

I understand layoffs and cutbacks, but why remove his name from the game? That just seems wrong, unless its a portent that he won't even be involved with these final months of development. Or maybe we're just jumping to conclusions here

Not surprising as all of these companies are going through serious restructuring right now.

And remember this might also have to do with the level of mature content in MGSV that they're just not accustomed to seeing in games.

Kojima Leaves Konami? Possibly KojiPro break up. : metalgearsolid

Now removing "A Hideo Kojima Game" from past Metal Gear titles too? That's just all kinds of wrong, like there's some serious breaking up going on.

...Konami isn't earning any goodwill by removing Hideo Kojima's name from MGS pages I'll grant you that J3.

Actually, a rhetoric question does not need to be answered.

It could be a legal thing so that Kojima doesn't have any claim to the game(s).

Not really surprised its happening, but the fact that Konami is being this petty and making it obvious to the outside world in the run up to a major game release is utterly ridiculous.

Not worried for Kojima though, he's probably already getting offers.

Removing Kojima's name....that's going a bit too far.

Not surprise that Kojima is leaving after Phantom Pain. He wants to end Metal Gear and the only way anymore was to leave Konami.

He might be gong freelance. Not part of Konami, but still involved with them. He's probably leaving for the same reasons other high profile Japanese developers have. He's tired of how the Japanese gaming industry is being run.

By removing his name I think they fear he is either starting his own company or going to work for a rival.

Seriously. He's been trying to pass the torch since part 2. The whole theme of that game's story was even about passing the torch. Except, just like how they keep bringing Snake back, no one wanted to take up the reigns. Leaving Konami likely is the only way he'll ever get to make a game that's not Metal Gear.
