It's only political if we make it political.

I can say that I hope no innocent citizens are injured.

    ...point conceeded.

I've probably just been reading too much about it.

The entire capital was evacuated and both sides claim to be winning. I'm eager to see how far this goes.

    That's an odd phrasing.

Why would you be eager to see how far an armed conflict like this progresses?

    Because it's entertaining.

Coup D'etats are also fascinating and usually historical, regardless of who wins. Even though this is the second time the Rebels are trying.

    Entertaining, huh? Fuckin' wow.

I'm going to go out on a limb here, just take a wild shot in the dark, and guess that you've never been in combat.

Yeah, coups are historical. Conflict often is. But finding it entertaining?

    Just...wow.

Events that are not boring are entertaining. If War wasn't entertaining there wouldn't be countless movies and video games about war.

Also, heaven forbid someone is eager to see who is victorious in any conflict.

I am eager to see the international community to give a crap about genocide in Africa when there is no incentive to intervene other than preventing human tragedies.

Definition of entertaining. Slightly more specific than "not boring."

And wanting to see a victor in a conflict is fundamentally different from being entertained by the conflict.

People have been displaced from their homes, people have been killed and more will be...yeah, I'm still not tracking on the part that's entertaining.

But I tell you what, just enjoy your armchair view of war, and consider yourself fortunate that you've never had the opportunity to be entertained by it firsthand.

I was almost killed after going 15 rounds in a boxing ring. I had to be in an induced coma for a week and wasi n the hospital for a month.

I still like to watch boxing.

Hey, boxing is just like war! Great analogy!

Besides the fact that "almost killed" is a world away from "actually killed," you chose to step into the ring.

Countless people caught up in this conflict, and innumerable others, didn't have that choice. And if they did, I have no doubt they would have chosen to avoid it.

There's no comparison. None at all. And your inability to grasp the difference is proof positive that you have not, in fact, been to combat and seen the extraordinarily unentertaining results for yourself.

Hey guys, nobody can like John Rambo or COD4 because it's related to war and war isn't entertaining at all.

WW 2 really happened. Thus any game/movie based on WW2 is NOT allowed to be entertaining because all those people died and nobody wanted to.

Your logic is lazy and spurious.

I'm not debating the entertainment value of media with you. You know very well that actual death is fundamentally different from portrayed death, whether or not it's representative of actual events.

Your attempt to shift the focus aside, I'm just astonished that you find a war--a real one--entertaining.

I'm not glad people are dying. I'm not happy people are losing homes.

But that doesn't change the fact that big events, usually pertaining to either large in content or large in despair, are interesting and entertaining. If it wasn't, once again, people wouldn't tune in to see it.
