If this movie doesn't get the Oscar nod, we'll know the whole process is rigged something fishy. There's no way anything else this year can hold a candle to the insanity ILM put on-screen this summer.
It's not uncommon for movies that have been passed over previously to win the Oscar in their final movie of the series. Not to say that this is the final TF movie, but probably for Bay.
Rise of the Planet of the Apes is going to win, due to the fact that all the apes are CGI/humans in motion capture suits, and it's done by WETA, and it'll be a critically-lauded film. I will be shocked if DotM even gets nominated. Even if it does, I'd bet my entire Transformers collection that it doesn't win. Which is a shame, because ILM deserves recognition for its incredible work in the three Transformers movies, culminating in a film that has been described as "as good as or better than Avatar" in the 3D department.
There's not a whole lot in that article, but I found this rather telling: yeah that sounds like Bay alright.
DOTM not winning an oscar would bug me a bit, considering ILM/DD have been on board since TF1. No other movie has been able to produce this much level of detail to a fictional character, not that I know of.
Everyone, *poor Starscream impression incoming* "I hate to be the bearer of bad news...", but I highly doubt DOTM will even get the nod. Critics seem to dread the release of a good ol' action flick. They also seem to have some large object shoved up their ass when watching one (God forbid it's a Michael Bay film) and even more so when reviewing them. And judging by how stuck-up and pompous the Oscar nomination choosers usually are, I think something as pathetic as Rio or Gnomio and Juliet will win. I even think RotPotA will get the same treatment the DotM will get. I LOVED DotM, don't get me wrong, but I seriously believe this will happen.
Whether this film is good enough everyone and I mean EVERYONE has to appluad the effort that went into it regardless.
