Sideswipe's design is so fucking cool.
very cool, you need to paste onto the head that concept art of berserkers head when he was meant to be an overload clone
"I had the opportunity to work on the high-poly robots for Transformers: Revenge of the fallen. I modeled the high-poly model in 3ds max, then the character artists at Luxoflux did the game-res model and textures. But for Streetwise, I made the game-res model and textures myself in my spare time." - Transformers: Revenge of the fallen
Was Dropkick from BB modeled off of that one Stunticon scout? To me they look so similar.
I really think Bumblebee took a lot of character design inspiration from RotF PS3. The Seeker design is straight-up ripped from one that Ken Christiansen proposed for the game.
Apparently, it was rejected because "someone at Hasbro got cold feet." Guess they decided to go back and use it again 10 years later.
His blog (The Bad Flip Blog: TF2 - Seekers 01) goes through his whole design process when it comes to these guys and it's super interesting.
Dropkick looks a LOT like the Omnibot Scout too.
And I'm not even fan of this robot
Wait what? That design above doesn't look anything like the Seeker design from the BB movie. The only thing that looks similar is the cockpick and that's present on like every Seeker design. Even that's a stretch as the cockpit splits 2 ways on the BB movie Seekers.
It’s not 100% exact, but I think that there are definitely similarities in the proportions and general kibble placement like the thigh panels, two stubby toes, and... erm crotch protrusion. Plus, they transformed into Tetra-Jets and F-4 Phantom in the film, rather than an F-18 like in the game.
There was also this “Head Evolution” thing that Ken Christiansen also did, which looks kind of similar to the BB Seekers, minus the gasmask.
So, maybe “straight up ripped” isn’t a correct term. But I still think they may have gone and looked at their backlog of Movie designs and tweaked them to use in the film later down the line.
Did Rampage or autobot protoforms almost make it into the TF2 game ?
I believe that the Autobot Protoforms were erroneously seen in the prerendered Decepticon Campaign ending. I don’t think Rampage was ever planned to be in the game though. Maybe as an idea for potential DLC down the line that never came to fruition because of Luxoflux’s closure, but that’s more speculation than anything.
The tf1 autobot protoforms and TF3 decepticon protoforms were a favorite of mine. And would love to see hem in great detail some day.
The last Knight Imax VR game would've been a great opportunity to use that con model from tf3. Overall that game was really good.
Crosshairs was probably the most interesting looking of the designs in the Wahlberg films, mostly because of his trench coat. However, he’s also everything that’s wrong with the designs in those films. Way too simple and humanoid looking with almost no vehicle kibble present, except for the headlights and tires.
I really like how fans have combined elements of Age of Extinction Bumblebee with Witwicky trilogy Bumblebee. It’s too bad the designers didn’t do this in The Last Knight.
I think the body of this concept art, along with the trench coat and head design that we got, would have been the best choice for Crosshairs
Best part about that design is that Josh Nizzi confirmed the face was based off of Bay since he blows stuff up...
First off, awesome renders and I really hope we get a decent figure of this design someday (both ss level and mpm level).
Secondly, WHO THE HELL IS THAT DUDE IN THE REFLECTION OF BARRICADE'S DOOR??
The designers kid? Thats my guess
I hope he has plans for other characters. These are magnificent! I'd love an Optimus vs shockwave clip. Or mixmaster against sideswipe. Endless possibilities.
