To be fair, Trevor's party never crossed paths with the forgemasters in the games either.

Was just thinking about this show & got to wondering- who is the main antagonist of this thing?

    Is it Dracula?
    Organized religion?
    Carmilla?
    Humanity/people in general?
    The Grim Reaper entity thing??
    Someone else?

I interpreted Death as the true main antagonist.
We know, disguised as Varney, he was on Dracula's council for a long time. Knowing how long he was associated with old Vlad, it isn't unreasonable to assume that he was behind it all from the beginning. We aren't told exactly how the Bishop found out about Lisa, after all - Death can take many forms, how do we know he didn't tip off the Bishop and his goons? Orchestrating her death and spurring Dracula's rage, and then taking action behind the scenes to bring him back. At best that's headcanon, since we aren't told one way or the other, but it makes sense.

It would've been so good if they followed this for Hector's salvation arc. This Hector was m.i.a. the entire series.

Bad writers, I think. They could not figure out even in 4 seasons.

Have to say it was uber satisfying to see that Bishop get what’s coming to him.

Teaser for the new sequel series with Richter.

I’ll give it a watch. I’m at least hopeful that we’ll get better writing since Ellis had no hand in this one.

It wasn't terrible but I was not a fan of the writing with Ellis in charge. I hope Nocturne has a tighter script. I also hope that we get some more good voice acting, which was a strength of the first show for me.

Richter definitely looks like Trevor and Sypha's kid if not direct descendant. He has their features for sure. Definitely will tune in to watch though without Isaac and Carmilla around, that's fewer reasons to stay engaged so hopefully they round out the cast with some interesting characters.

So I was discussing the announcement of the new series with a friend and felt that although I like that we’re getting Richter’s story as it can nicely continue Alucard’s own tale, I wish that they hadn’t skipped over Simon’s part in the franchise. Unfortunately, this means Simon’s only animated appearance continues to be the previous “adaptation” of Castlevania in the old Captain N cartoon. Well, at least they fixed Alucard with Netflix’s Castlevania because…

Also, rewatching that clip, I suddenly realized that Ian James Corlett once voiced Alucard. Bizarre.

I mean... I like James Wan, but Nic Cage as Castlevania Dracula doesn't seem like a good idea. Sure he played the character recently in Renfield, but that was a campier version of Dracula that plays to Cage's strengths as an actor. The Castlevania version of Dracula is much more of a dark and brooding character that has zero sense of humor.
