So you guys excited? Perfect timing for Halloween. New character looks interesting. Not familiar with demon forgers though?

Devil Forgemasters. They were introduced in Curse of Darkness, and established as minions of Dracula during Castlevania III. They weren't in the original game but it makes sense that this series, portraying those events, would include them.

Castlevania III huh? Hmm. I never got that far. I suck at the original Vania games, even though I like them.

Never played them myself. Just thought I'd keep up with the storyline.

Same here, though I did manage to beat the original game once. I could never figure out what the hell I was supposed to do in II at all and I got stuck early on in III so I quit.

2 is the only one I beat. :)  Its my favorite and intentionally bad clues aside, I found it more forgiving. Had lots more fun roaming around. Great music too.

2 is a great one. Everyone likes to dump on it today, but back then everyone thought it was a great game.

I've finally gone back and started to watch this. It's really good. I don't know what was my problem the first go around. I am only 3-4 eps in but look forward to the rest.

This is the opposite of me. I got so frustrated by the first CV game I sold it to a classmate; that Grim Reaper would kick my pathetic heiney every time. I never even glimpsed the final level until I re-bought the game years later and beat it the next day (experience is a great teacher). But I got really good at CV III and could beat it regularly...well, the "easy" path, anyway. I would sometimes do the harder paths if I had more time to kill.

Which part did you get stuck on? I'm guessing it was either the clock tower or the red tower with all those damn fireball-shooting stacks of skulls.

Oh, and this may be nostalgia talking, but I like the NES soundtrack to CV III better than the FC. The NES music just sounds moodier, especially the ghost ship. The FC music for that level is just too harsh to be moody or spooky. IMHO, of course :D

    The FC?

And honestly, it's been so long since I played the game, I don't remember where I got stuck.

CV1 would trash me all the time.

As a kid, my family only ever rented part 2, so I never had enough time to get tripped up by the cryptic clues & stuff. So I never developed a hatred for it. Besides, it’s still a great game. One of my favorites in the whole series.

CV3 was the first Castlevania I ever beat. Then I figured that if I could beat that one, I *MUST* be able to beat part 1. So I went back & replayed part 1, got my ass kicked a ton more times, but stuck with it until I finally pulled it off.
One of my hardest accomplishments as a gamer.

And since then, no CV game has seemed nearly as hard.

...I think that this is gonna be viewed as the stronger of the Video Game franchise adaptations.

I agree with that, but to be fair, it's a pretty small hill to climb :p

I'm on episode 5 now. It hasn't really gotten any less slow since the first season (literally almost nothing has actually happened in 5 episodes) but at least there are a lot more characters to switch between while the plot crawls along at its glacial pace.

You know its weird how slow the show moves, yet the character interplay - especially Alucard and Trevor - makes me not really give a shit. That said from a general standpoint they could stand to either quicken the pace or at least give each episode a few more action beats. Like I said I personally don't care, but I can certainly see why it will piss lots of viewers off.

So do they finally get to fighting Castlevania monsters with Castlevania music while traversing Castlevania?
