I was reading the Frank Welker thread here in GD when the subject of Casey Casem came up. More specifically, why he left Transformers altogether. That got me thinking about something.

Here's the post that caught my attention http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/showpost1227020-p26.html

Suppose Casey Casem, 20 years later, is still steamed about the whole "Carbombia" thing back in G1. If we would want to make peace with him, and would want him to even consider trying out for a part in the new TF Movie, what if we as a fandom were to apologize.

Now I know that it wasn't our fault, and that we were still eating Happy Meals back when this all happened, but still, If Casey saw that there was not only a strong fandom out there for this series and all it's incarnations, but that we all hated it too, that he might by some chance accept the apology? I figure that it's worth a shot.

Or here's another approach. What if we as a fandom, were to approach Hasbro/Sunbow, Whoever about the whole thing, and request a formal apology, that maybe that would do the trick?

I know that this whole thing is really pretty silly, and I for one want Casey to be in the new movie (Teletraan 1 wouldn't be the same without him.). What do you guys think?

It was Season 3. Personally, I'd just let it go... No need to use the movie as a method of apology.

While it was kinda in poor taste it was on a kids show so it went of the kids heads most likely. Never really remembered that till it was pointed out now. Plus it was the 80s. Almost all the bad guys in movies and TV shows were either Arabs, Hispanic/Latin American, or Russians/Communist. It was just the times.

Unless its Prime, Megatron, Starscream, Soundwave or Bumblebee, no one gives a shit about G1. It was 20 years ago. Hasbro isn't gonna make an apology now, as I'm sure Hasbro has moved on, and Casem isn't holding his breath for an apology, even if he is still pissed off.

Did Hasbro tell Sunbow to make the place called Carbombia? I doubt it. I blame the writers...

In any case, Marvel or Hasbro would take responsibility, depending on who owns the rights since Sunbow is a defunct company.

That made me laugh really hard:lol

All I could do is picture Cliffjumper or Bluestreak sitting in a radio booth saying that.

As for the whole situation...it's a 20-year-old situation that just needs to be put to rest.

Casey Kasem can go to hell.

    Nobody likes a crybaby.

    The movie doesn't need him.

Screwing apologizing. It's not our fault he let something done in minor bad taste in a kid's show 20 years ago bother him so much.

I think I can live with Teletran-1 sounding different than he did 20 years ago.

It's called satire for a reason folks. But If Casey is still upset about it after all of this time, then I'd like to get his response to the cartoons that are now being made in the Middle East that show kids how to become suicide bombers.

If he left after that episode, were muslims were portraid in a certain way, So how come he still voiced Cliffjumper in "StarScream's Brigade" ? Was it pre-recorded ?

Yes, I feel about the same way with Teletraan 1. Even Cliffjumper. Casey Kasem can just keep doing the "Top 20" show for all I care. If he's still mad about a poorly done cartoon from twenty years ago, he's a smaller-hearted man for it. Fans have nothing to give an apology for.

Anyway, in regards to "Carbombya" aren't car bombs still exploding in some parts of the world? :sly2:  We're not the ones that owe the apology there either. :peoples:
