Can anybody post pictures of the box for the genuine Takara version versus the version released later by Sonoking? I'd like to add Black Convoy to my collection, but if I recall right, the version released by Sonoking retains the alterations made to the mold by Hasbro for their release as Scourge and I'd like to avoid picking this one up by accident.
Much thanks TF2! Looking around ebay, I see a couple in wide boxes rather than tall ones, and the sword in the figure photography on the box just happens to be cropped out of view. Do you happen to know what's up with that release?
Double-sided box, if I recall. Landscape orientation on one side, portrait on the other. I have it at home, can dig out tonight. The font should help regardless.
That's the one, Waverider! Word. Them having a bunch in stock was kinda what prompted this line of questioning. I was concerned about picking up a Black Convoy, only to find Scourge sitting in the box. Thanks to everybody for sorting this out for me. Had no idea it was a dual display box. Nifty feature.
Most of Car Robots boxed sets are the same way. Brave Max, JRX, God Magnus and Build King all come to mind.
The sword was made blunter, the G2 symbols on the discs were removed. (the other issues, such as stickers and colors, don't count as mold changes). The Korean version used those changes but with some aspects of the Japanese version in-tact.
IDK, I'm pretty sure mine is the Sonokong and it looks just like the Takara with the sharp sword and inverted G2 Autobot symbols on the arms and the discs.
Does yours have red windows or pink? The Sonokong one has the Takara stickers, but not the pink plastic
Mine's Sonokong, and the windows are pink, he's got the G2 Autobot sigils, and the silver foil stickers, and a pointier sword. [edit] Actually, no, scratch that. Just checked Toy Arena's site, and it seems that it's actually the Takara one they're selling. Didn't keep the box, so didn't really see if it had Japanese or Korean on the packaging.
Don't forget. Black Convoy shoulders has the upside down G2 Autobot symbol, while Scourge has the more familiar Decepticon symbol.
Heh, I said toyarena's was the Takara earlier in the thread. I bought it from them myself a few months back, so I should know
