The space flowers were cool. So a new world is opened up and its first response to first contact is to take up arms. Sounds within reason, sad to say. The finale looks to be shaping up to something epic.
So the big twist is going to be Soong's son is really Lore right? And shes not Data's daughter but Lore's. He even uses a few lines straight out of the episode where Lore stole data's emotion chip.
I don't know a certain android obsessed star fleet officer, who once tried to claim Data was not a sentient being. Who has appeared on the show. He always wanted to know how data worked and take him apart and then put him back together, look there's a deactivated Soong Android in storage, and knowing Kurtzman no one bothered to keep an eye on it.
I don’t think Data would have released Lors body to anyone, not even Bruce I would expect he kept it on lockdown near engineering on the Enterprise D where it would have been destroyed in “Generations” with the rest of the star drive section.....or maybe even destroyed it himself but that’s my thinking
Your thinking logically. They will be thinking Hey we need this lets make it work, it will surprise the audience and be a twist like in a Shyamalan movie. They won't see it coming. (We all saw it coming as it's poor writing)
How does an android perform a mind meld with a human? They've had 9 episodes, and 1 left. And now they introduce sutra, soong and a federation of synths that exist outside space and time as the finale bad guys? I know i said before i liked the slow pacing but dropping these all in in the final two/three episodes? Pacing overall could be better. The show is better from the riker episode but it feels like they were trying to stretch the story and then realised they were about to run out of time. I just hope the final ep doesn't end as a giant visual splatter like disco s2 did. At least that has the iconography of discovery and enterprise to latch onto. I like this series but I'm not loving it.
Which are basically the reapers from Mass Effect Reaper Reapers (Mass Effect) First they rip off the Tardigrade game now they rip off Mass Effect.....I honestly hope EA sues them.
Actually I think there is 2 very simple possible answers to this depending on what exactly Sutra is.Is she a flesh&blood Android or a fully artificial android (which her skin color implies) If she’s Fully artificial then I would assume that any technology that can either probe a mind (Like the Romulan mine probes) or mind transfer tech (which we have seen before and they seem to be already working on) Could have been employed in juncture with the Vulcan techniques she studied If they are flesh and blood Androids then maybe they Used some DNA from any number of the telepathic species we’ve seen, including humans (we’ve seen at least one woman in Star Trek that was a full telepath)
And the Techniques she learned resulted in the mind probes working much better then we have heard in past trek
I was going to ask how did Data manage to do the Vulcan nerve pinch if he wasn't a Vulcan, but I guess I forgot or did not notice it was done by non-Vulcans before.
I read somewhere that it works by using telepathic energy from the fingertips and it's where I had the impression only Vulcans could've used it or at least someone with telepathic powers.
That could’ve been from a novelization, comic or other non-Canon source....I know it’s certainly something fans theorized but it’s not something that ever was stated in any episode To tell the truth I always thought that the theory was kind of pointless since in a TOS episode Spock once mentioned he tried to teach it to Kirk......If it was reliant on telepathic energies then he would’ve never have bothered trying to teach it to Kirk
Nothing on screen has ever suggested that. I always thought it was precise manipulation of a specific nerve in a specific way. Only vulcans have the mental discipline to do it correctly, picard learnt it from sarek mind meld and data observed it and can replicate it because he's an android. No telepathy required. At least that's been my interpretation.
Honestly, I've had similar reactions to Troi being able to sense emotions from Data and Lal. Sure they've had emotions of some sort, but to be able to be picked up by a biological telepath? And then you throw in a monkey wrench like Ferengi's being masked from Betazoids due to having 4-lobed brain? Sometimes it's best not to think about these things too much
