Bucky is detained at Shield headquarters. His cybernetic arm is detached and being examined in another lab. The arm comes to life and knocks out the scientists, breaks into a ventilation shaft and goes to free Bucky! Iron Man takes on Bucky. Awesome fight, which ends in pretty much a stalemate. The fight ends when Iron man tells Bucky about Cap's letter asking Tony to save Bucky. Tony asks Bucky to help him with the final assault on the Red Skull...and to also take the Captain America mantle. Bucky agrees as long as Shield removes any Winter Soldier shut down words from his brain...and he is allowed to operate autonomously from Tony and Shield. Tony agrees because "Steve asked me to save him, and anyway...he's already got the shield." next month--The new Cap! Brubaker rules.
See, I can live with Bucky being a new Captain America. Though I like the Steve Rogers cap, I wouldn't mind seeing him as a Wally West Flash equivalent in terms of taking over the role.
So we've gone from leader and soldier to assassin. From symbol to side kick. And from ultimate human to cybernetic programmed angry guy. Why not use Cable? Anyway, I've been following the story and its awesome. I'm sure the following stories will be awesome. However the core ideals have really shifted regarding what Captain America is. I look forward to seeing how this is resolved. The new costume is lame.
Okay... In New Avengers, Jessica confronts Luke Cage about his thinking that she's a skrull... Strange uses some spell to check everyone out, and they're all clean... then Cage's daughter has green eyes... so if you're serious, then that either means they're even harder to detect than Strange thinks... or maybe Strange himself... ?
Captain America is one of the few Marvel books I'm still reading. It focuses more on plot than shock factor. Yes Cap dies but there was enough of a story to keep me interested.
I like Bucky has the new Cap, and Cap is still one of the few Marvel books that I continue to support...though seeing Cap with a pistol is a bit disturbing.
