I'm so close to pulling the trigger on these guys. Is there anything I should know before ordering Ferocious and Landbull?

 

Be careful with Ferocious’ thumbs when transforming, and the tabs on his tail(?) when going into arm mode. Don’t pull out the center piece of his sword, it looks like it’s meant to swing out but it’s not.

That’s it as far as I’m aware. There are no issues with Landbull that I’ve read about.

Landbull is so badass.

 

Yeah, ALWAYS fold Ferocious' hands in with the thumbs facing up...ALWAYS.

Landbull is super-solid, has a fun transformation, and is very poseable. My only gripe is the face sculpt, because I personally dislike open-mouth expressions. I wish they’d included an alternate neutral face, maybe one similar to that of the G1 toy, which I always thought was nice. Regardless, it’s a great figure in both modes.

Ferocious is good too, but take care with the particulars about transforming as noted already. He’s not quite as robust as the Bull. I like him better as a tiger. In robot mode he suffers from slightly odd core proportions that seem to plague many arm bots (short thighs, long shins) and his forearms have a Popeye-like thickness that isn’t attractive, but in dynamic poses he hides it better. His head’s a tad small, too. But if you like what you see in images, you’ll be happy with him.

 

Never liked the face on landbull, to me it looks too human. Like an angry guy wearing an old fashioned crash helmet. The non painted mouth looks weird in the colour they chose for the face too. But that's just my opinion of course

Not a fan of the face, either. Especially with the teeth not painted. But it also leaves the annoying question: paint the teeth? What color? White? Silver? I'd rather he just have a frown.
I'm all for personality, but in this case, it just doesn't look finished.

 

That’s a tough call on the teeth. My immediate thought is “definitely not white” because I associate that with organic creatures. Silver would be more logical, though I recall someone painting their Landbull’s teeth silver and it looked odd… kinda like Jaws from the James Bond films, or Flava Flav.

 

How about that perennial favourite: "halitosis brown"?

 

Absolutely agree. Though if you wanna take it a notch further, knowing that this is me of course so OF COURSE i'd say this, no extra faces for either him or Divebomb leave a bad taste, though nothing to the point of dealbreaking, absolutely not.

The teeth paint though FT is guilty of as well and i'm also dumbfounded by it, why not just paint them in? And as for me, white > silver, kinda meshes better not only with each other but other figures since pretty much every other figure you'd imagine would most probably have the same.

 

I think Landbull's face fits him perfectly, Firmament is my favorite, with Ferocious as a close second.

 

Firmament does have a nice face sculpt-- I just don't like the rest of the figure (too busy). I passed on buying him. And I plan to paint Ferocious's mouth plate red like the rest of his head, as soon as I can mix up a matching hue. I liked that his original head looked somewhat ninja-like, and the yellow mouth plate on this one gives an entirely different impression (and in my opinion, makes his head look too narrow).



Also, as soon as I can find a decent donor face, I'm replacing Landbull's rebel yell with something more serene. I've considered using MP-40's, but I don't own that figure and so I'm not sure if the dimensions are appropriate. I mocked it up digitally, but had the freedom of making it whatever size I wanted, which won't necessarily work IRL:
