Yes and I'm pretty sure it was the same deal for those who purchased Hugerhino whether as a standalone figure or to complete the entire set..

That's true. No one was really expecting that. I'm glad they did it though. Still seeing what their interpretation of Volcanicus will bring to the table..

 

After seeing pics of all these combined, i'm on the fence about finishing it. The narrow waist sitting on top of the really wide hips looks way off to me. And the combiner head is way to small.
on the flip side...the individual bots look fantastic and I need more Decetpticons in my collection. I'm 4 bots in already...I may just get Headstrong and call it a wrap.

 

Holy burn-a-hole-in-my-pocket Batman! I just did some quick math on current prices and it looks like this guy costs just under $1000 to get him complete.

 

Maybe now, when you started and the retailer you chose counts for something. The first 2 figures were under $100 back in 2020, their 2022/23 reissue is about $50 more.

My individual breakdown from starting Thunderking in 2020 to finishing in 2023 with ShowZ was just over $550.

 

Completing him for me started back in 2021. The first 3 figures of the set I ended up getting were 2021 reissues, instead of the first initial runs of the figures. The first 2 from TFSource plus Firmament (1st copy) from TCP ran me to $460. Had to get another copy of Landbull & Firmament both from TFSource (which doesn't count) mainly because of the broken guns incident. Then, originally had POs for the remaining 3 figures (plus the 2 wolves) at TF-Direct. Wind up canceling with them, getting my money back and gave ShowZ a shot, thanks to a lot of members here in the forum and was almost $78-79 away from $1000 on this entire set. Used the points I had for the rhino, which dropped the price down to only $98.07. If I remember correctly, I spent a total of $931.00 for this entire set.. He's the biggest MP combiner in my collection to date..

Question: Has anyone here found a good spot to place a Decepticon emblem on the combined form? I can't remember if there was any photos here. I was looking at the plate under the lion's chin but I'm not sure yet if that's the best place.

 

Thar was my second favorite conversion even though it felt like I was wrestling with a metallic hedgehog (he's a sharp boi) lol

The waist thing bugged me too. Maybe CT will make some inserts to thicken it up. The tiny head is the price you pay for a mostly non-parts forming combiner, but I wouldn't be mad if some 3rd party made an altnative head like liketoys did with jinbao Devy.

 

If you rotate Kinglion's hip skirts so that they sit diagonally, it actually fills in space of the gestalt waist well.

 

I think that's one of the things a lot of people miss when transforming him. Just got him back in lion mode and noticed one particular mistake I made before that I wasn't aware of when I transformed him before. And that was that the gold piece the tail is connected to plugs in the underside of the lion between his legs so that the tail comes down flush. I kept wondering why the assembly in that area kept flopping about when I started messing around with him last time lol..

 

Me and you man. I just love the look and feel of the team together, even hyenas and crabby. I will still probably combine once or twice, but I've decided already that I'm gonna display them individually. They are just that good, both robot and altmode.

 

I watched your Dasirius video. You have the same rock in the video I’m talking about at the 12:38 mark. You tweaked it out to level it better since?

 

I’ve got the bull, the tiger , and the bird in beast mode today, and I have to admit, I really like the look of them. I have never liked beast alt modes, just don’t like them. But this crew is impressive. Ferocious is my favorite alt mode, and I new it would be from all the pics I’ve seen of it. However, Firmament is the most impressive, to me. His wing span is insane. Seeing the pics of him does nothing to show just how big his wings are. WOW. I might get Kinglion done later if I have time. Looking forward to combined mode.
