I just combined him and man o man is he incredible. He truly is the new King on my desk. He almost dwarfs my XTB Menasor. I measured him, he is 67cm at the tallest. The presence this guy has, it's awesome. I'll try posing him later, but he already is more stable then Menasor.

67cm!? Jesus! Most MP combiners are at least 50+ but for this one, he just beat them all out. Sheesh!

 

So, was “Thunderking” just the original name that Toyworld gave this set? While the individual robots have been given English names, I’ve only seen Cang refer to this as “Chiyou”. Is “Thunderking” just a holdover nickname favored by the fans?

 

Anticipation builds, but my tracking's last update has it... somewhere in the US and USPS awaiting item. No update since the 16th. Le sigh.

 

Whether it’s Chiyou or Thunderking, neither name will ever be nearly as cool as Feral Rex.

Its been ups and downs with this set for sure with me, but I am genuinely excited to get it, and that's been a rare feeling for the last few tbh.

 

Paid off Huger Hino at ShowZ this morning, so it’ll be a good minute before I see him arrive.

 

Hope these get stateside soon. Mine is at TCP and I only got Thorilla a week ago.

 

I got him a week ago due to when he was in stock, not because I just purchased to clarify. Thorilla only hit TCP in January but had been stated to be received December.

 

Got my Huge-a-reeno today. Set's done. It's been fun.  

 

Thunderking was the original name given by TW when the set first came to light. Everything was planned out through TW, including the designs. When CT took the project under their wing and released it as their own, Cang gave the set the name "Chiyou." The history behind the name "Chiyou" is why Cang gave them the name. The story and history I can't remember off the top of my head, but the entire name given was CT-Chiyou 01 - God of War Thunderking. So apparently, it wasn't chosen by the fans, but based off the history behind the name that was given..

 

The text is not in blue. I don't follow this project that much but its been going on and on and there is not a combiner to show for it

 

After 5 years, we were given this.. (Actually, CT started in 2019) and he's been completed this year..

 

Sometimes it’s ok to take a moment and look at the last page or two of a thread before posting. If you did that you’d already have your answer and you would know that only two of the figures were ever released and the project was cancelled shortly after the pandemic.

 

Not really cancelled, but there were a few delays in between releases. It was almost an entire year after Firmament was released that we finally got Kinglion in hand. At that time, the situation was intense and due to the circumstances, Cang had to work with what they could. At the end of 2021 was no better. Power to their factory had to be cut and there were a ton of delays as a result. But in the end, 4-5 years of this crazy "adventure" was worth it because we were given a treasure unlike any other..

I'm surprised at how stable and poseable he is for a combiner that weighs nearly 5 frickin' kg's. You can get a lot out of him, and as you can see he certainly has presence. Also, I'm very pleasantly surprised on how solid he is. Keeps his balance, and he can hold smaller figures just fine. I might post more if I feel like it, but you can have a lot of fun with this guy. He's the new king of my desk; Menasor has been deposed and is now on the floor.
