i have been curious what the deal is with this PVC prime my brother has. his blue parts are sort of shimmery looking. someone just handed it to him one day at work, so there is no box or anything. i was wondering where it came from? was there ever a PVC prime made like this? or do you all think it was a custom paint job. i haven't seen it in person, just in pictures...anyone know??

It's possible it might be a knockoff too. There were a lot of those floating around at the times when the PVCs were big, in regular, metallic, translucent, oversized versions, and with/without the energy weapons (axe on Prime, mace for Megatron)

Might be wrong, but I think the genuine Takara metallic Primes were rare/chase figures, while the knockoff versions of the same were relatively common. There were enough re-released variations in that line I can't be sure though.
