It might be a little too late for this now but since this film is called ''Transformers'' I would like to see some clear - full view - transformations!

In the first film we only got to see 2 full transformations - clearly - and they were both of bumblebee - and they were both of him going from bot to car - not the other way around.

There seems like there is going to be a lot of robots with a lot more screen time in the sequel - a lot of action - i just hope they manage to squeeze in some good clear transformations (preferably with a still camera angle).

Also - as a side note - I wonder how Devs is going to combine?
It would be cool if all the constructicons get defeated and are lying motionless in the desert - when suddenly a few sparks start going and they all join together - or maybe the fallen makes it happen with some crazy power he has.

 

The showed starscream at the end go from jet to bot, then back again.

 

There were plenty in the movie. Optimus has a big tranformation scene, while it may not of been a full body view...in fact they show all the autobots transforming in that scene. Jazz has some good ones, going into bot mode, and into alt mode for the S7 chase. In fact looking at Jazz go to alt mode, you can see he has a similar style to G1 where he jumps up and lands on his hads while transforming, not to mention the "Kup" transformation scene. Starscream had his moments too. Megatron had both in and out of bot mode. Brawl had going into bot mode. Ironhide had his slow motion one too.

 

You are going to get it.

I love how people dont understand the transformations are just about as fudged as the original cartoon and this is a multi million dollar movie.

The reason why you dont get full non fudged or camera tricked transformations is because the robot designs were just picked robot modes they were never designed to actually transform into the vehicle they were to become.

So basically even if they transform and you watch the whole thing it hurts your brain because its so overly fudged.

It is a little ironic how little transformation you actually see. Hopefully part 2 has less zoomed in shots

 

What about blackout going from copter to robot? that was pretty nice.

 

I was thinking the same thing. If we're counting full frame, full shot transformations, that should be at the top of the list.

Also, the Nokia and the DewBot had full frame, full shot transformations.

 

The Optimus transformation was funny. From the back you can clearly see his trailer hitch going between his legs and sliding onto his chest and when he turns around, poof, it’s magically gone!

Anytime a part moves behind another object it disappears...

Another one they really cheated on was the Starscream dogfight. You see the topside of Starscream’s F-22 mode and as he rolls you can see that his underside is already transformed. As he rolls all the way over, you see his topside already in robot mode. Then he does the exact same thing in reverse; you never actually see him transform during the dogfight.

 

With any luck we will get more shots like that since it was a better transformation than some of the other ones in the film. I was way more impressed with that shot than say Starscream's skate boarder transformation at the dam.

More shots to show off what goes into into it and fewer of those shots that seemed rushed just to get to the action. Kind of hope the Devastator shot has enough length to it so we can get some idea of how they planned for all the Constructicons to form him.

I never actually considered this before, I'll have to watch the movie again and watch out for disappearing parts and such.

I understand this - but obviuosly some robots did fully transform like bumblebee coz they showed it TWICE.

Its just Bay chose funky angles so fudge with our heads or crazy panning

 

That was kool - but hardly that clear as he was flying all over the place whilst doing it

 

Yes these were kool - but all very fast as they were in the heat of battle - only bumblebees were clear and not too fast/slow.

Also - Kup????? - there was no Kup in the film!

 

And if you listen to the commentary, you'll hear Bay complain about how shoddy it actually looks on the second one. If you show partial transformations and quick pans, the brain fills in the rest. It's sort of the uncanny valley of mechanics.

 

It costs money to put those Transformers on screen. Optimus alone has 10,000 parts moving in his transformation sequence.

That is expensive. People need to be paid for their hard work.

The first movie had budget constraints because no one knew how well a movie based on a toy series might do. This time, they threw more money towards it, and I think we'll be rewarded this time around.

 

Nokia - yes - but very fast.

Dewbot - was shaky cam and slightly cropped at times - not full frame throughout.

 

So what you're saying is that you don't so much want transformations, as much as you want...
