If the movies have a good reception and give people the same appeal as the MCU, I think the films can hit billion again or if they are REALLY successful, it could possibly cross 2 billion.

There's nothing wrong with wanting something comfortable, but comfortable =/= "better" or "quality," but I think many fans confuse the two, i.e. what is a quality Transformers film to them is one that is more within their comfort zones and not necessarily a "better" one.

But at least I post my opinions as opinions and not facts. You can only say whether you found it better or worse. You can't say you and a certain percentage of other people found it worse, so it is factually worse. I have no problem if people have different opinions and present their opinions as opinions. I have a big problem if people present their opinions as facts, because x-Bayformers is NOT "factually" better than y-Bayformers movie. And it doesn't matter if a majority share the same opinion. A whole bunch of subjective opinions don't add up to one big objective fact.

I found Transformium to be one of the most fascinating concepts in the movies, perhaps even one of the most fascinating concepts in the history of the brand. Not only did it look cool visually, but it also made a lot of in-universe sense as a fictional concept! It was pretty damn Shrektastic I thought. See my previously created thread here: Transformium is a GREAT concept.

But the fourth movie DID NOT have a huge military presence. It had Cemetery Wind, which were not military and were allied with Lockdown. We see both American and Chinese military jets flying around the Knightship in 4 (and firing upon them in the latter's case). Fifth had more of a military presence again, but it wasn't any more than the first three, that's for sure.

And I think it is largely due to nostalgia, because fans and general audiences prefer things to be comfortable and familiar. Because Shia and Megan were what people who were introduced to Transformers in 2007 and 2009 were familiar with.

I'm not saying there's anything wrong with people preferring the earlier films for that reason either. If people do, more power to them, but I think that if the time scale were reversed, and it switched from AoE/TLK-like films to OT-like TF films, then I guarantee plenty of the same people would have complained the latter were not as good as the former, because the former would have become comfortable and familiar, and the latter would have been uncomfortable and outside the safe space of people introduced to TFs through the earlier films. "Oh, they replaced Crosshairs and Drift with guys like Sideswipe and Ironhide? They introduced this teenage douche as the main character?" I guarantee that people introduced to the earlier films would have complained about the later characters replacing their favorites, who would have been their hypothetical introduction to Transformers.

And the first three films have TONS of things also present in the later films that are given free passes in the former but crucified in the latter. Often times, the things fans hate are in even bigger quantities in the earlier films.

Glad to hear it's an opinion and not a fact.

Then don't present your opinion as fact like you did in a previous post.

And which of the Bay movies was the most focused on the Transformers themselves? You know, what Transformers fans desired after the first three films? Age of Extinction. In fact, the fifth anniversary of Age of Extinction is coming up, and when I have time, I'm planning on creating a post on just how Shrektastic it was for a fourth live action Transformers film. Have a Shrektastic day!

    Also, another thing...

Reboots are easy to do. But catching people’s attention in general is another matter. They will have to make a new movie that not only catches audience attention, but also creates a new generation of fans.

Remember the example of the MCU... it took characters that originally were not mainstream.

But with the first Iron Man, it created new fans and from there just grabbed people’s attention.

That’s what Hasbro and paramount need to focus on when they do the reboots. How to grab people’s attention once again, first, and create new fans.

This is basically just saying if the movies are successful they will make a lot of money…not really anything of substance.

Possibly, but I know a lot of people thatvgenuinely found the first three more entertaining than the last two, so it could but also couldn’t be the reason regarding comfort. And I guess we’ll agree to disagree with Transformium. People have different tastes I guess.. no point in arguing which is better because none of our OPINIONS will change what the matter thinks. And true, the fourth didn’t have a huge military presence but it didn’t have a lot of transformers either. No big Megatron vs Optimus figh. And theAnd do you think that if, even though it’s probably impossible, Shia and Megan came back it would boom at the box office? Just a general question.
And I never said the fourth and fifth had no correlation towards the first theee movies, but most of the time it was the WORST things, in my opinion, that were brought over. Don’t get me wrong, I liked a lot of the scenes from the fourth and fifth movies though e.g. lockdown vs prime and in TLK “did you forget who I am” but the 5th, especially, literally made NO SENSE. I find that ROTF was much more enjoyable than TLK, not because of nostalgia but I prefer the designs and a lot of other facts e.g. sams story more interesting than Cades. But that’s just my opinion, I know a lot of other people who think similar too though. And good for you that you like AOE so much, I find it in my opinion to be a boring ass movie and not as watchable as the other three , but whatever floats your boat bro

And it's okay if some people are more entertained by one movie than another. That's fine.

We also have to remember that one person's "Ruined FOREVER" is another fan's G1. What is awful to one fan may be the peak of the franchise to another. And there's nothing wrong with that.

By the way, if I were to pick between, say, RotF and TLK as my preferred film, I'd pick RotF, but even then, there isn't a great gulf in quality. Both have arguably excessive amounts of characters and plot points, unrealistic McGuffins, over-the-top humor humor and scenarios, and main antagonists in the Fallen and Quintessa that don't have much to them. And while RotF is the king of geographical continuity errors, TLK definitely is the king of ignoring or minimizing established characters or threads, so you're really picking your poison with those two, even though I don't think either one is as bad as critics made out to be. Rather, they are flawed movies that still have redeeming qualities.

I think they should take a break from making movies for a while.

After that get a team, get a plan, and start making them again.

I haven't been following any news on current ongoings

but the last I heard it was them going back and forth on rather Bumblebee is apart of Bay's films or something new.

This Forbes article is really good, in light of several sequels underperforming this summer, surprisingly including Godzilla which I honestly thought would be a monster hit.

Heck even Detective Pikachu wasn’t that much of a hit.

But it’s something Hasbro and Paramount might want to consider as they reboot the Transformers live action franchise.

Box Office: Why Are So Many Sequels Bombing This Summer?

As we talked time and again it always comes down to the same thing:In TLK there are plenty of rushed things..it feels so fast paced that the speed takes everything down..the fights in particular.ROTF passed down some magic wich I loved...there are scenes that I really loved in TLK too like the sword blocking but TLK is still the weakest. If they would have had a full battle in the small town,Bee Vs Barricade and a spectacular climatic battle at the end and more drama with Optimus being bad it would have been ROTF level no doubt but since none of those things happened it's hard for it to compete. It was great to watch nonetheless.Let's say the backstory was great and the castle scenes were similar with ROTF so those were not problems but there were no moments when the Autobots felt defeated or "Ironhide we should leave this planet" or stuff like that.We get a line from Prime but shortly after he goes back at it.We don't even get the impression like the Decepticons made a move on them..so I believe those things hurt the movie because there's not much to the conflict. In ROTF you discovered the puzzle with Sam and felt when Prime died and mourned with the Autobots and felt the Decepticons taking over the balance of power and shifting it,travelled around the world and had some fights..Sam went in the robot afterlife.I think you know the drill,I still love TLK as a TF film but it can't be considered as good as others.

Yeah, it’s even clear in the bumblebee movie they’re unsure what they want to do. Some sections of the movie portrayed it to be a reboot, others provided the contrary. Right now I think they’re deciding whether the franchise should be fully rebooted or not. Then, they’ll go from there. I don’t see a transformers movie coming out for at least 3-4 years.

Great article, makes me realise that if they did realise a transformers this summer there’s no doubt in my mind it would have been a box office failure

No guarantees right now. Maybe if paramount and Hasbro amplify the nostalgia factor plus this time with a good story that irons out the plot and builds the world, but they'll have to let some time pass by.

I don't know how much more nostalgia will help. I see a lot of younger posters here who grew up without G1...
