Been thinking about this for a while, do u guys think Bay’s fatigue has caused it to decline forever? With how saturated the market is for movies like Transformers, I’m not sure...

I question whether it can. I feel like a big part of the other movies' success was simply the gimmick of giant robots fighting. Now that it's worn out and overdone, I'm not sure they'll ever quite be able to capture that magic again.

If they can find a way to make Transformers story and character-focused, but also make it feel large-scale and important, I'd say they might. But it has to appeal to Chinese audiences again.

If I believe nothing is impossible, to the Chinese it will be easy to convince in fact BB made $ 170M and TLK made $ 228M (if it does not compare with the surprising AOE with $ 320M) but even though they made large amounts, the hardest thing would be the US audience that even made BB raise less than TLK in the country and the international audience in addition to China has not gone the reason why BB won mena there was because he competed directly with Aquaman, Spiderverse and Mary Poppins, the TF with a good story they could make the billon or even more, do not wait for that figure in the next movie, possibly in the third one, and we'll be seeing the Transformers again at the top

No I don't think so. Recently I have been reevaluating my thoughts about the Bumblebee movie, and it is not as memorable as the previous Transformers films. They really need to make the robots the central figures with humans as the background characters.

I believe it can rake in that money again, but it will be an uphill battle to do so considering that competition is more present than in 2009 or 2011 when Disney wasn't a massive juggernaut announcing slates of major blockbusters like today.

Possibly, but certainly not as easily as before. AOE only made a billion thanks to a ton of economic benefits through the Chinese government, and even then it only just crossed that threshold.

Honestly, worrying about Transformers reaching those lofty heights is something not even of concern because right now, it's not happening. The foundation needs to be reconstructed and have good writing that is accepted by the general public, flashy CGI just isnt enough anymore.

Never say never, I guess. The franchise came back from action masters. It came back from beast machines. And those were BEFORE a major Hollywood franchise. It might take 10 or 20 years or however long but I suspect we haven't seen the last height of Transformers.

Of course by then a billion dollars might not mean as much due to inflation, or the media landscape may have changed so much that a big movie isn't the pinnacle for a franchise, etc. etc.

It may not have been as memorable, but that could be because it was nowhere near as big a scale as the Bayformers...

True, however, people didn’t just watch Transformers because of Transformers. Actors like Shia and Megan were big appeals and there weren’t a lot of blockbusters back them. Audiences have changed

And audiences will change again. And the brand will change as well.

Transformers continues to reinvent itself and succeed anew not only because the franchise is well known, but because at its core, the concept is a strong and engaging one. It continuously finds a way to attract new fans with new approaches.

Pretty much my thoughts too. The days of Transformers movies being profitable because of cool CGI and giant robots is over. Even Marvel's success isn't really reliant on the gimmick of superheros. They're profitable because they've created a storyline that audiences want to return to. If Transformers ever wants to reach a billion dollars again, I think they need to become very story-focused. They need to establish a cast of characters (human and robot) that audiences will want to return to and follow.
