Okay so this might be a really stupid question... but...

Could bots like Skids and Mudflap (described as young autobots) physically grow eventually, or do they just stay the same size no matter what?

i seriously doubt it, but they are meant to be young and inexperienced that's all, not little kids

I have really wondered that. I don't think that we have seen little kid robots that have grown (other than Hot Rod who wasn't really a kid per say but grew in personality and size). I hope that if they do have them grow that they have a good explanation. I wonder how movieverse Transformers are born too. If there are the original 13 and Jetfire who is ancient and then the little kid robots who could be like 10 years old in human terms tops then how does that work?

I don't think we'd ever get to "see" it in the movieverse, because their lifespan differs greatly from humans, but it does make me wonder if you're a Transformer are you just stuck being 12 feet tall? 22 feet tall? etc.

I think you grow "mentally". Same reason I'm almost 22, but I'll still play with my Transformers as if I was 10 again. Skids and Mudflap are inexperienced and childish, but maybe a few ugly battles and suffering might make them rethink their outlook.

You have to grow old, you never have to grow up ;)

Mentally I think they could, but physically no.

I imagine that "The Doctor" is not young, but his body is very tiny (comparatively). My point is that body size =/= age.

I'm actually wondering how their size is affected by their chosen earth-based alt modes. Like say Jetfire wanted to adopt a new alt mode and reformatted into a smaller plane, his robot form would have to adapt and shrink too. I wonder if that would be a possibility, or if each bot's choice of alt mode is constrained by their relative size in robot mode.

And no, I don't think they'd grow in size with age. Possibly with a change in alt mode, but as stated above, I'm not sure that's possible either.

Cool. I play with the six Transformers I own too! I plan on playing with the ROTF toys I will get and when that looses its luster I will try my hand at stop motion... wish me luck ;)

Well in the Beast Era, Cheetor evolved each season into a new, taller, slimmer and stronger form through quantum energy surges, tm2 driver and reformatting. I think its possible over time, when they desire it, or need it, or least expect it. they can probably modify their bodies.

But in the movie, all the machines brought to life by it were wild like untamed beasts. This might be because the energy has deteriorated in the Allspark and it can no longer make very sentient beings like the rest of the TFs. Just a thought.

I thought the allspark did not give them a true spark? Like a soul? I thought it just made feral creatures that were wild in nature.

Arcee and the other Fembots are smaller, and they would be described as older. So, No.

I think the Allspark creates bots with undeveloped minds (acting primarily on instincts), then they are able to develop their thoughts and personalities with time. So cognitively, cybertronians 'grow' with age, learning and experience. They don't necessarily change in a physical sense, but there's always the possibility of upgrades to their bodies or even having their sparks transferred into other bodies/forms.

However don't Transformers need a spark 2 b alive? And I think Transformers can grow. I mean look at Ironhide he is like the oldest Autobot in the 1st movie so that implies that Transformers can age. As 4 The growing thing do u think Megatron was created that big?

But under that argument if Ironhide is the oldest shouldn't he be bigger than Optimus Prime? I think as others have said Transformers will mentally mature with age but don't physically grow as they get older

I agree that Transformers grow with age, mentally and emotionally. I even agree that they don't grow in the movieverse, but it seems unfair evolution wise to a smaller, yet more mentally capable bot, perhaps with great leadership qualities, that they wouldn't be able to lead. I guess all Primes would have to be large Transformers then, no? Or maybe there is a Napoleon bot, I dunno lol. I mean, in theory Bumblebee is young too, but a solid warrior with potential down the road. Is the only way to be in charge (and grow to a size respectable enough to lead) then with the Matrix, which (going back to the animated movie) could alter a form? Or, what about adding on additional parts over time? They'd have to incorporate those right?

I realize I'm yapping about fictional characters, I just think something about them staying the same relative size makes their fate all too predetermined.

I think when there born with the spark they are all feral for a reason.

like from the first movie the cell phone goes from being nothing to all of a sudden alive with a independent brain and weapons and all.Being surrounded by Fleshy looking aliens wouldnt you attack aswell?

I think over time there personalitys come out and they reveal if they are good or bad.

Id say even the great optimus would of been feral at least the first few hours of coming alive.
