I want to avoid white plastic turning yellow as long as possible. I have tint on all my windows already, which blocks heat and most UV. All the lightbulbs in my place are soft white LED bulbs. Is there any risk of these having a negative impact on plastic over time? Or is LED the best type of bulb? What about decorative Red/Green/Blue LED bulbs? Do those pose more of a risk to plastic? Thanks for any insight.
You're already ahead. Good on you. Soft white is best, but try and have a shade on them, if possible, because they can cause coloration problems with time. Blue white bulbs, the brighter of the two, have been proven to emit some low level form of UV, and degrade your eyes, causing macular degeneration to some degree. I assume you're talking about Christmas lights, yes? They're temporary and won't be running 24/7. Should be fine.
Thanks for the reply! I was thinking about getting something like these "RGB LED Under-Cabinet Lights" to put around a desk in the room. They would not be on all the time. https://smile.amazon.com/Lighting-C...&qid=1544675711&sr=1-23&keywords=led+lighting
Ah. If they have a dimmer, that would help, if not, try some kind of filter, even a piece of parchment or wax paper. It's thin enough to let light through but not the intensity
