Looking for sub $300 cameras. She like to take a good amount of pictures of just about anything, especially our little boy. Has a nice Kodak , but has issues and eats batteries so fast its not funny(used to be fine and now you cant take 10 pics and its dead) Kodak was helpful and told us to us their lithium ion(other folks have issues with the model as well doing the same thing after working normally for a yr or so) Anyhow, looking for a good all around camera. Also wouldn't mind if it was something I might be able to snag from her and use for taking photo's of TF's if I ever put my light box together. So just throwing this out there as I know there are quite a few camera buffs on here, cause its sure not my strong point. Thanks
Still needing help................... Something to take action shots of the little bozo. Want to be able to try my hands at a light box if I ever get time as well Recommendations, ideas? Help me out here.
Bud, I would go to amazon, hit a price range, then read up on the reviews. Then once you see one you like, hit all the avenues for the best price. We have the leica dlux5, but its counterpart the Panasonic lx5 is right up your price range and is a great value for quality. Check it out. But I am by no means a camera buff. My wife loves it and the picture quality is great.
I've used a Canon S3IS for years and shot over 15,000 images with it and it hasn't failed me yet. It's got great range from still objects and macro-photographs to taking pictures at events and catching pictures of my dogs (which don't like to sit still most of the time). It's got a non-interchangeable lens, but still has manual focus as an option, and the battery life is pretty good. Overall it's a really good camera for general use that lets you get a lot of higher quality shots you can't get with the lenses that are in your average pocket digital camera, but at the same time the cost isn't as high as a dslr because you don't switch out the lenses. Granted, you don't have the flexibility of a dslr because you can't select a specific lens to best suit the image you're trying to capture, but the lens quality is still really good. I have a canon dslr now that I uses, but I still love using my s3is for regular shots though because it's just easier to set up and still gives a quality image. As this is a 6 MP camera from a few years back, you're probably going to want the current equivalent, which would probably be something like the SX500, which has a similar body design and features. Up here it's about 350$ for a SX500 and starter kit (which is usually about 75$), so that should be around your price range.
Sx500 is on my list of candidates actually so I appreciate the feedback. Just trying to find something good all around with some versatility to try new things
