I made a bid on BW C-1 Convoy on eBay: Takara Transformers Beast Wars C 1 Optimus Primal Limited Model Japan Only | eBay The seller confirms that the item is sealed (therefore not used as the auction states), but says the tape is jagged (like from a tape dispenser). If you own a C-1 Convoy or any of the earlier Japanese Beast Wars figures, can you help confirm that the tape is jagged or not? And is there tape on the TOP of the box like pictured? Your help is greatly needed!
First pic looks sketchy. second pic looks legit. open him, hes a great toy and for that price, how could you not open him up.
This, if I recall my Shadow Panther correctly, it was sealed with clear tape on both sides (though I did buy it opened MIB, one side was untouched). I can double check when I get home. The first pic looks to be sealed with office Scotch-tape style (a bit frosted, you know) so I highly doubt it was sold like that.
if he has tape sealing him on both side flaps like the second picture, I doubt hes been opened. I do know that sometimes the sideflaps open on the top or bottom, so that piece of tape was prolly pu there to prevent it from happening. My deathsaurus has that problem, but i aint putting tape on it, lol.
Yes, I do plan on opening him, but it's my policy to only purchase sealed material for opening first-hand. After mysterious hair and damaged chrome on BM Jetstorm so many years ago, I am going the sealed route through and through.
Having purchased my share of vintage JBW, I can say there's nothing suspicious about that tape. And I disagree about the sealed only... I've had one too many "It's got 2 left hands but it's 10 years old so I'm SOL" type things.
