Just got these three today. Won't go into a lot of detail on the molds, or the DVD eps themselves, as there should be plenty of info out there for the Googling. (haven't watched the DVDs yet either, though they look nice with the character art printed over the silver DVD surface for a nice mirror effect.

Overall: These reissues seem to try to balance between two color schemes - show accuaracy (to the extent repainting can provide), and near-totall use of metallic/pearlescent colors. This works better on some than others.

Cheetor: the least amount of change really. It's basically "Fox Kids" Cheetor with black Spots instead of red. To go for better show-accuracy, Cheetor should've had yellow or gold forearms, feet, and eyes. Blue plastic seems a bit dull next to the blue painted parts. generally not bad, but more could've been done with it. Maximal symbol doesn't look so great printed on a fur texture. Comes with the upper torso of Transmutate.

Rhinox: Getting there in show-accuracy. Rhino mode adds eyes with pupils, but loses painted toenails. More pearly-colored. Robot mode is mostly the same as the original, but adds the gold trim around the "eyebrows" and jaw. More detail has been added to the mutant face as well, but if you remove it, the head looks very Rhinox (sneering). On the downside, the arms are misassembled, with the shoulders and upper arms facing backward. It doesn't affect transformation though. I plan to do some modding to "Maximize" the accuracy. Comes with Transmutate's lower torso and right leg.

Waspinator: The star of the wave. The metal/pearl plastic works quite well for an insect. light grey plastic on the original is swapped for green, and light green for yellow. Extra yellow scallops are painted on the legs, and yellow and black details were added to the face. Not perfect, but a much better show likeness than the original toy, and just plain nice in general. Comes with Transmutate's head.

Half a Transmutate: Paint is a little sloppy in spots, but looks accurate and well-detailed so far (panel lines and such are accented with a paint wipe). I don't know if the right leg is supposed to move, but I twisted it off trying to move it. Arg.

Verdict: pretty good if you already have the originals, excellent if you don't. Waspinator gets the highest recommendation. Now where's some pictures of Tarantulas and Rattrap?

I'm guessing not, but did they add the freckle effect to Cheetor’s face? If we ever do get a Tigatron, I'm hoping they give him his whiskers.

    Can't wait to get them!

I didn't watch hardly any beast wars, but I was reading up on Transmutate a bit at BWTF, and he had a screencap of "her". Is this what the toy is going to look like? a non-transforming bot that looks totally mismatched and outta whack?

That's exactly what Transmutate's gonna look like.

Nope, Cheetor's got no freckles or marks on his face. the blue color is dark enough any darker marks wouldn't show up that well. I'm working on painting/modding these guys for more accuracy. I put some "tear marks" on his face, but the freckles are beyond my detail-marking abilities.

I posted in the general section, but I almost ripped my Transmutate leg off too, thinking it was going to swivel... They should have put a warning on there somewhere..

Good review. I'm still going to wait for all of Trans-Mutate parts before assembly. I'm not even going to try to move the right leg, thanks to this board. Poor Trans-Mutate is as messed up as an action figure as she was in the show. I'm going to make BW Rampage happy with her and not let BW Silverbolt know about it.

Goddess Bunny aka Sandie Crisp aka Johnnie Baima, an abused and sickly child who grew up to become a beloved figure in Hollywood's underground transvestite scene?

yeah think about it: small, sickly, no one knows whether its a dude or a chick, walks like he/she has polio, and kinda creepy (though not near as creepy as Goddess Bunny, my friends and I almost crapped ourselves when we saw that video)

I find it silly to re-release toys that are only 10 years old. Seriously, what's to celebrate here?

The revitalization of the Transformers brand, for one.

If nothing else, I'm a lot happier to get show-styled reissues with a few extra goodies than a magenta, yellow, and baby blue version for "Universe".

All great but for Rhinox's shoulders. Just two screws and swap the shoulders and upper arms, and it's all good.

I picked up Rhinox yesterday. Having never owned this mold, everything was new to me.

He's not bad, but not exceptional. Kinda average.

Beast mode is decent, but it really shines because of the paint apps. The spray paint gives it an unnatural shine, which works considering Rhinox is an alien robot, and the show was CGI.

I never realized he was a mostly-shellformer. The front legs and the body get in the way a little, but the good articulation is still useful.

I like the weapons, even though the Spinning Chain-gun "of doom" isn't really a gun.

And I need to go out and get a screwdriver to take care of his shoulders. Fortunately, that's one of those things that's good to keep around the house/apartment/dorm, so it's not like I'm buying one just for Rhinox.

I give Rhinox a B, and I can't wait to find the rest of the 10th Anniversary figures.

I cobbled together Rhinox's weapon parts into the "Chain gun O' doom", with the help of a chunk of Cheetor's gut-gun as a new handle. It spins with the button, and can even still store away in rhino mode, in a fashion.

Just got Rhinox over the weekend [No cheetor or waspy yet :(  ]. I wondered why something just didnt look right with the arms. So basically just swap out the upper arms and leave the lower parts intact? Also, is it just me or do you have to put the chaingun into the back hole of his hand to make it look like he's actually holding a gun and not a pizza platter? :huh On another note, I thought about getting my dremel tonite to remove the "ear flaps" but after taking a second look at the toy, they're not that terribly obtrusive so I might just leave 'em there.

All things considered, he looks a lot better than I had expected but I'm still disappointed enough by his flaws to only rate him an average toy at best. Hasbroken made a nice try tho and I'm slightly more optimistic now about Cheetor and Waspy.

Is there ANY reason to pick up these figures if I have the originals, the DVD's and no interest in the bonus figure?

Depends on how much you care about the (generally) improved show-styled colors and paint apps. IMO Both Waspy and Rhinox improve quite a bit on the originals in terms of Show accuracy, and Cheetor doesn't really bring anything new to the table. (technically the original Cheetor, which had gold forearms and feet is more show-accurate than the 10th anniversary version)
