I wonder if Target knows that 90% of this line they paid for is just old stuff repackaged

That's what's confusing to me, I figure it would be like, those Transformers Prime Hasbro Pulse things, where it looks like it's from the factory from a decade ago just never fully boxed or something less weird. But here it's a repaint, meaning it's a whole new production run. (cause I doubt there was a bunch of unpainted waves of these figures lying around).

Also Target absolutely is getting ripped off here even if they aren't paying for this. I'm surprised Hasbro doesn't do this more though, guess it be too insulting to retailer and consumer.

    Excuse me, what?

    What?

Why redeco Grimlock mold twice to make this sorta thing?

    Unless...

...It might mean Hasbro is just that aware about the whole crash combiner concept that they would be like "Well, these molds are also compatible with our new Cyberverse Roll & Combine figures!"

All new releases you see are new production runs.

There's no such thing as completed production runs from years ago just lying around the factory, just waiting to be packaged.

Just take those Transformers: Prime 10 Year Anniversary figures you mention. Takara's Jet Vehicon's Arms Micron partner Igu was cast in the same black plastic as Jet Vehicon himself, but apparently Hasbro made a very stupid research mistake when planning their 10 Year Anniversary release: It seems like they were using TFWiki as their reference for the deco, but since there is no fictional depiction of Igu, TFWiki uses the toy photo of the standard version as the main image for its "Igu" article. Hasbro apparently didn't realize this, and just scrolled down to the "toys" section, only saw a photo of the "Igu S" redeco that came with Takara's Jet Vehicon General, and used that as the basis for their version of Igu. And thus, the black Hasbro Jet Vehicon comes with a silver Igu that transforms into a weapon that isn't color-matched to the Jet Vehicon it comes packaged with, which is mindbogglingly silly. TFWiki has coined a term to refer to this phenomenon of official parties using TFWiki as a reference but either misinterpreting correct information from TFWiki that is presented in a way that might lend itself to misinterpretation if the reader is lazy and/or in a hurry, or falling victim to incorrect or simply outdated information on TFWiki (or other unofficial sources) that has never been caught: "Citogenesis".

And even beyond that, there is one simple way to tell that all these so-called "repacks" are in fact brand new production runs:

Every Hasbro-released toy has a tampographed Hasbro product code number somewhere on the toy that matches the number printed on the packaging (usually above the barcode). So unless you were to suggest that Hasbro actually goes through the process of removing tampograhed numbers from toys and replaces them with new numbers, it's pretty obvious that they simply commission new production runs that sometimes use the same colors as the original releases, and sometimes are redecoed.

Additionally, all Hasbro toys have manufacturing date codes etched into them that match the manufacturing date codes embossed into the packaging. A toy with a 2020 or 2021 manufacturing date stamp cannot be from an old 2016 production run.

Wow, that makes a lot more sense then what I thought. A unfortunate scenario about the wiki thing though. Thanks for the explanation!

I've heard of instances where finished cases of toys were sitting in factory storage for years until getting offloaded locally or in low price retailers. Looks like that can only apply to finished and packaged stuff.

These heinous abominations are a blight inflicted on the shelves in blasphemous attempt to spuriously exchange droll poppycock for legal tender, nay I say to thee. Nay!

How about this line re-release the Netflix Earthrise Beetle Bumblebee? I am sure many out there are still looking for ways to get that mold at retail price!

So that's what a yellow Grimlock would look like. They should have gone all out with coloring Grimlock in Optimus Prime colors, and Bumblebee colors. It would have made these sets more interesting. They only halfway colored it that way. But overall yuck.

This isn’t the first time we’ve gotten a yellow Grimlock that combines.

The comments on how much people don't like most of the Buzzworthy Bumblebee line are hilarious. In a way Buzzworthy Bumblebee is bringing us together. :p

I forgot about that one. The old one is more gold than yellow though. This new one is closer to bumblebee yellow. The new one's dino mode looks barely gold in the picture than robot mode which seems more yellow to me than gold.

Is the Grimlock that's packed in with Bee meant to look like Bumblebee? Because it looks just like RID15 Bee. Then again, that might be more of a comment on how samey all the designs in that show were. Everyone had giant shoulders and screens on their chests.
