My reaction to these versus packs: Ah ha ha ha ha, Nope.
Makes you wonder why SS HO Bee is coming later, if they were gonna do this - I know locking a brand new mould/retool/figure behind a 2-pack would be disliked by everyone, but it could've improved the chances of that 2-pack selling.
My decision to buy Takara’s High Octane Bee for my Studio collection now feels incredibly validated. He’s an older mold, yeah, but still holds up great and has a fun, unique chest transformation compared to other deluxe Bees.
I didn't have an issue with AOE H.O. Bee being reissued as part of a one off two pack, but making him THE Studio Series version of this design would be a bummer.
Nice that Car Dropkick gets a reissue.
One fix for High Octane Bee's stumpy arms that was popular around here back in the day was to replace them at the mushroom peg with DOTM Bumblebee's arms. I'll try to dig him out for a pic later.
Yep target exclusive
While there's nothing in these packs that personally I need, let's just take a moment to appreciate that the match ups here actually make sense based on the movies/scenes involved. Good work Hasbro.
As opposed to the other one:
An ape, a spider and a werewolf-bat-guy walk in to a bar. The bartender (Hubcap wearing a Bumblebee mask) says "What is this, some kind of joke?"
Eh, I wish the stinger pack had bee which had the same mold for AOE accuracy
That's a tricky one, because some of the AOE and TLK stuff wasn't that far off the quality and detail of Studio Series anyway. The BB's in particular share a lot of engineering from those lines. Don't always need to make a new mold when the old one is good enough and in the right scale.
This is accurate though - the first time Bee meets Stinger is in the KSI headquarters:
I totally agree that several TLK figures can work just fine for Studio Series, and even a couple of AOE ones... but I think there was enough room for improvement with the original High Octane Bee figure that he could use another pass.
Don't really care for the HO Bee and Stinger set, as I already got a Stinger previously. Though... slight armybuilding seems tempting...
VW Bee and Dropkick though, I'll be getting. I don't know if VW Bee will be good, but it'll at least pair up nicely with BB Prime. And Dropkick's the primary reason.
Looks okay. What mold is that Stinger? Is it the AoE Bumblebee mold and just mistransformed to fit in the packaging?
Yeah, and they could at least revisit the colour-blocking on him - the movie version has a lot more black. At least SS Drift got a good premium paint job.
Anyone else getting sick of these multipacks to squeeze more money out of people?
At least Stinger can be a troop builder.
It really is. The 2014 figure just feels so cheap. I still have my copy and I’m almost afraid I’m going to break it every time I transform it.
You know it's bad when a "Studio series" figure has a shooting gimmick
At least they used the good Dropkick.
I really hope we get a new mould High Octane Bee at some point.
I think the next set may be Soundwave and DOTM Bumblebee.
Can see ROTF Bee vs Rampage happening as well
