Jetfire has some modifications to his paint/color scheme. Basically most of the blue in the US version has been changed to a much nicer dark metallic brown. This is probably the better of the two Jetfires, but it is a pretty minor change that really doesn't save a troubled mold. I have the Chinese gift set and after 6 months have yet to bother taking Jetfire out of the box. That being said, unless you're willing to go totally overboard (like I did) and get both the Japanese and Chinese Buster Primes, I would go with the Chinese one (and if he'd been offered first I wouldn't have bothered with the Japanese one). Since I prefer the mouth guard, I removed my Chinese head and put it on my Japanese version (in theory I was going to switch heads back and forth, but I never seem to put the mouth version on). The only differences in the two toys are Japanese has a mouth and white pin striping (which I like better), and Chinese has faceplate and blue pin striping (which is fine, but doesn't pop quite as much). It's also worth noting that the blue plastic used on both Buster toys doesn't match the US version, so if you add the mouth guard head from the US version it will never look quite right. Buster Prime is a fantastic toy. They basically took one of the best molds ever and added the paint it needed to pretty much be a MP toy. If not my all time favorite transformer, very, very close. I can't recommend him enough!
I ended up getting all the versions of this mold: Both Busters with and without faceplate, The original, The black exclusive, and the newest Battle Hooks Prime. It's just a beautiful mold.
Same here. This is one of my favorite Prime molds along with the G2 Laser Prime mold. Those two are the only thing that I'm a completist(sp?) of. I would do some shopping first. The 2 Pack Jetfire's paint detail is a lot more elaborate, and movie accurate. As is his colors. Randy
