I would absolutely love to see FT branch out into other series.

    Nothing yet.

Eh, they pump out mostly redecoes, though. And even then I'd say their releases don't come close to Bandai's frequency. It seems like getting actual new moulds is like pulling teeth, and they've even taken the Primal model they were going to make and turned it into a pre-assembled figure.

Plus their reliance on IDW means their kits are really just kinda boring and fly under my radar, despite being good quality. I keep forgetting I own IDW Optimus because why the hell would I ever think about IDW Optimus? :lol  Though that's obviously not FT's fault.

Not surprising when you look at their site. Looks like something from 2001.

I know it’s a bitch move to bump a thread without news, but has anyone found an actual retailer online that sells this kit besides Show Z? Like there has to be somewhere you can buy it.

That’s what bothers me. Not even Amazon Japan has it, making me question just where the fuck Trumpeter expected to sell this? Is it exclusive to China?

It's weird, because Flame Toys is in China as well, and they work with Bluefin to distribute their stuff.

Trumpeter has wide distribution in NA. You can find their pedestrian traditional military and automotive models at many craft and hobby stores. But apparently Bumblebee, who’s fucking amazing for their first foray into articulated mecha models, ain’t good enough.

The fact that even HLJ apparently never even heard it it, despite stocking the full line of Trumpeter’s other kits, is worrying.

EDIT: TF-Direct also has it set to arrive mid-October, though again it’s not the greatest price: TRUMPETER SMART MODEL KIT 01 TRANSFORMERS BUMBLEBEE

Compared to some model warship prices, this price seems acceptable to me.

Do these kits need to be glued or painted?

Nope, they're "Smart Kits," meaning they only require snap-fit assembly. They're designed to not require glue, paint, or even cutters to get them off the runners. Bumblebee includes stickers for his headlights, though, and of course you can paint them yourself for added detail, but the in-colour Bumblebe in the first image is exactly how the kit comes out of the box.

EDIT: Actually Bumblebee seems to have had a light wash done to bring out details, but other than that he's stock, so they look pretty good.

Oh fuck, Blitzwing is an actual plastic sample. He must be almost ready?

Shockwave, Starscream and Wheeljack look amazing. Can’t wait to complete the BB movie cast.

Scale seems loose. As in, Optimus is taller than the other Autobots, but not as much as he should be. Seekers and Decepticons are likewise closer in height to the Autobots than I think maybe they should be?

Regardless, the movie never gave us a great sense of scale in the few minutes we saw them, so I'll take one of everyone. I was honestly about to write this line off as one and done, but not only is Blitzwing seemingly in production stage (he's just missing paint it seems) Optimus looks finished sculpt-wise, and Wheeljack and Shockwave look damn close. Best of all it seems they'll all have Bumblebee's basic articulation suite, which is great as he was plenty articulated for such a small kit.

Again, we just need a retailer who will reliably carry these and we're golden.

Brawn. He's still a little under-detailed here as it seems like him, Arcee and Wheeljack are not as far along. (they're even doing Bumblebee's Cybertronian mode, too)
