I have never wanted a movie TF toy, but I am a sucker for that VW Beetle alt mode.
I may get this depending on size. Will this car scale with the G1 MPs in any way?? I hope so, cause I'll get it if so.

I get that. But I feel for the studio series they should have walked back too. The whole point of the line was screen accuracy. It wouldnt surprise me a bit if the last minute CGI change was a push by Hasbro to sell more toys. Mark my words there will bee a retool of the studio series figure with a simple swivel and hinge to fold the doors into a backpack. But this will only bee revealed after a swarm of winged figures have already been sold.

I will laugh my butt off if Bee DOES have his door wings up at some point in the movie.

I sincerely doubt it. The MPM cars are bigger than the MP cars. Bot mode scale is close enough but the alt modes are significantly larger.

Needlessly larger too. The MPM Car-bots would have scaled better with Prime and Ironhide if they were smaller. Perhaps this Bee will ends up being a bit smaller to scale well.

Sounds like you'd want either MP-21 or Classics Bee? They're both great figures and probably the best modern updates we'll get of the original character.

The Classics fig has a "VW-esque" alt mode and is more modernized, while MP-21 has the licensed VW Beetle alt mode and is more slavishly G1 (although I have the G2 version because I like the colours better and he comes with a jetpack instead of the unwanted Spike accessory). Here they are with some friends:

Hopefully I'll be able to add MPM-7 to this shot if he's worthy!

In all honestly even though I grew up with the 2007 movie bumblebee's look I wil gladly change out the mpm for this one if its accuraate I mean the bay designs are complicated/complex designs and this is cleaner so I don't know how they could mess this up,but you know its hasbro so.

It\'s cool I guess, they are really banking on this movie  being a hit. Are those rubber tires I see?

It's actually based on the original G1 toy's faceplate.

    1984_Bumblebee_toy.jpg 1984_Bumblebee_package_art.jpg

Like the entire 1984 cast, Bumblebee was redesigned for the Sunbow cartoon and given a more "human"-esque face.
    Sunbow_Bumblebee_model.jpg

The Generation 2 toy was simply the 1984 toy with a metallic golden finish.
    Generation_2_Bumblebee.jpg

It wasn't until Takara's "The Transformers Collection" series of "bookbox" reissues that "Bumble" (released as part of a "Minibot Team" six-pack) was given a new head based on the cartoon model.
    2004_Bumble_reissue.jpg

Artist Don Figueroa was the first to interpret the toy's faceplate as a "battle mask" in Dreamwave's Generation 1 comics.
    Dreamwave_Bumblebee_battle_mask.jpg

Takara's Masterpiece Bumble toy had a face swapping gimmick with two different facial expessions, with a third option, a "battle mask" based on the original toy's faceplate, as an Amazon Japan exclusive bonus feature.
    MP_Bumble.jpg

The "Generation 2" redeco of Masterpiece Bumble includes all three face options, but treats the "battle mask" as the default version.

Somebody was specualting that was actually an OS KO of the deluxe.

Comparing the pictures now, several of the seams (and door attachments) don't match the deluxe at all, so unless they made substantial mold improvements, I'd say that is definietly the MP and not the deluxe.

Also the sword storage on the back hasn’t been seen with any other figure.

So at first I was questioning why they were shoving yet another Bumblebee figure representing an appearance he hasn't even had yet into the line. But a small thought I'm having is that MAYBE HasTak still aren't sure just how stable with VW they are right now. Seeing as we did have a reissue of MP Bumble and this movie has the VW alt mode in full effect one would THINK things are completely cool but you never know; maybe VW is still a little shaky about these things. Either way I do hope this isn't a regular thing where we get figures for appearances pre emptively. We know the movie figures have very often been based off of non finialized models so something like this seems dangerous in a line made to capture screen accuracy. I love the MP line and hope this turns out well though.
