Optimus! He's a Prime! Is he in this movie? We don't know! He's in this packet though: On the back it describes the gimmick. Is it fun? I'll let you know when I do! (Thanks to @mcluskyism who found him for me, I'll let him know too. But not @tikgnat. @tikgnat will have to buy his own. If he can. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.) In the packet you will find this chap: I think he looks better than this in-hand; bad phone photos not helping him here! Round he goes... Unpainted Autobot logos on him and Camaro Bee... Hollow head. Where's his brain module? Although he did live on a floppy disc for a bit without apparent ill-effects, so maybe it's the wrong question to ask when it's Optimus.... The reason why he steals faces. Articulation consists of ball-jointed hips and elbows, and shoulders that can rotate up and down and also swing out to the side by pushing backwards in much the same manner as the original toy. Joints on mine are all nice and tight. MUNKY? TRUKK. Transformation is simple and fun; the result pegs nicely together and rolls well. Gimmick motor-thing goes in here, must be amazing right? Comparison with preceding face-stealer. In a high-speed collision, who would win? Motormaster, eat your heart out... Our EISS ensemble, to the extent I thus far own them: Of course, one of these is Nemesis, and the other's a past light dark forces would like him to forget. Now let's him and him fight? In conclusion: a small and cheap and fun Optimus and quite nice as Legions go. Barricade and Bee may have better face-sculpts but his transformation is more engaging and being an irredeemable Geewunner (do love me some Bayformers though!) I like his red-and-blue cab-over truck.
This post makes me laugh. Like a hyaena who just heard the one about the two pieces of ham. It could have been yours. It was meant to have been yours... ....if only you hadn't been so slow.
For the same reason the previous version as shown is all blue. Legends toys have a pretty small alotted budget, and it looks like two plastic colours is their limit (two molds per toy). They went with red and black this time. Painting his entire lower legs blue also blows out the budget, so he just gets a bit of blue on this thighs to suggest his traditional colour scheme, while not trying to be especially accurate to anything.
The minimal paint budget is depressing when you look back at the older Primes: I'm more struck by how badly the legs and shoulders stick out in truck mode. And the strange way his robot mode's silhouette makes me think of the Decepticon symbol -- like OP's head is the center crest and his shoulder doodads are the eyebrow chevron things...
He looks a bit hit-and-miss, but fun nonetheless. I'll probably pick up him and VW Bumblebee if I can find them for a reasonable enough price
I got this Optimus yesterday, and he does remind me of the RTS mold. Yet, one thing I can't seem to understand is why he's got an extra transformation step that isn't used in either of his modes. His legs are connected to his crotch, which is its own, separately jointed piece. It allows his legs to fold up and lay much higher than they need to for truck mode. In robot mode, this piece does allow for a bit of an ab crunch articulation, but at its fullest winds up making Optimus look straight down at his toes.
That crotch piece does actually need to be moved in order to shift the legs into proper position for vehicle mode. It's just that they didn't mold in a stopping point so you can fold it up further than it needs to be.
