I am aware of all of that. It still means 97% of them liked it. To what degree they liked it is another, but as of now as long as they liked it its fine. Plus, the general audience just looks at the rating and if its 60%+ then its probably gonna do good.

Agreed. Though a fair amount of people check metascore.

The start of this thread I predicted a RT score of 83%. Anyone predict higher?

It will never be that high. Professional movie critics hate most non-Marvel, non-SW action films. There's a reason why characters like the Cinema Snob exist.

user rating is as worthless as IMDB rating at this point, in every media.

I always rely more on IMDb since every mainstream audience could rate a movie, altho it still could be rigged, but majority opinions are still winning

IMDB is always rigged, the users are all heavily biased and pretty trollish. I mean, does anyone remember when they had message boards? That was a nightmare.

Mary Poppins critic scores just opened with an 86% on RT and 70 on Metacritic, both slightly lower than Bumblebee. Things just got a lot more interesting.

EDIT: And it just dropped to 77% on RT.

I'm really curious as to which movie–Bumblebee, Aquaman, or Mary Poppins–will come out on top for that weekend; I feel like Bumblebee is going to have to rely a lot on word-of-mouth as I imagine the general public will be extremely leery of another Transformers movie, up against a superhero movie (albeit a D.C. one) and a family-friendly Disney nostalgia flick. Guess I'll have to do my part and see Bumblebee 10 or so times in theaters...

I think bumblebee will underperform the other films this weekend (at least aquaman), but over time it'll have longer legs here in the states.

I'm personally predicting Aquaman will come out on top during opening night. They've been spending a lot of money into the marketing and their fanbase is simply larger than ours. Though, Bumblebee will catch right up the following week and I believe it will have the strongest legs.

Looks like @JimTheJIRRMan read my mind and ninjaed me while I was typing out this response. :D

Yes, Bumblebee is sitting at 97% right now.

Oh yeah, because one critic has a problem with it, so it is no longer 100 percent. Got it.

I'm sure it'll go down to the lower 90's once more critics review the film. Though, it'll probably still stay higher than Aquaman and Mary Poppins.

Mmmm idk. I honestly would be surprised if it dips below the 90s at this point.

No matter what though, this film will be much better received than the others. Not that much of a bar to cross though tbh

I'd say it isn't necessarily better received, just more consistently received. There have been a few raving reviews for Aquaman and Mary Poppins, but also some very disappointed ones. Theres a wide mix. There haven't really been any raving reviews for Bumblebee from critics, but everyone consistently thinks its a pretty good time.

Film quality is completely subjective, so I wouldn’t say that any review aggregate should be used to gauge quality. However, I do agree with your assessment of Rotten Tomatoes. It’s usually a pretty good indicator of how the masses will feel about a movie.

So basically, we have consensus that Bumblebee isn’t trash. Hooray!

I am talking about critics, not regular movie goers.
