You’re comparing apples to oranges. TLK lost $100m with its higher take. Bee was already profitable about $100m ago. It will end up profiting well over $100m. That’s a pretty big cash mountain.

Bee should cross $121m domestically this weekend and still showing good enough legs that it could make it to $130m. It’s also still chugging along in China and could top $160m there when all is said and done. If it performs well enough in Japan it could inch ever so close to $500m worldwide. Sequel already confirmed. I’m betting the next installment has a Dark Knight effect and we see a huge opening weekend with a total domestic gross that rivals Dark of the Moon. DVD/Blu-ray sales on Bee should be very brisk and reach the key audience of the jaded fans of the franchise that sat this one out in theaters.

    Box office update time.

Domestic: Bumblebee grossed an estimated $655K on Friday. Total gross stands at $119.08M.
China: Bumblebee surpasses $150M on SAT ($151.27M by 23 days). It is looking to top $160M some day next week. For comparison, DOTM made 165M in China.

Ow okay. Well in that case Rampage did fine and is also the movie that got the closest to breaking the video game movie curse... I think

I'd like to see it break 150M domestic, unlikely that may be.

Wow. The China numbers I saw hadn’t been updated in a while. This thing may hit $200m there with the extra month to play!

I think the box office in Japan will be very very small, since there's so many HD clips of the movie already on the internet

That can't happen at this point. It's going to be a close call on whether it passes TLK domestically or not--at this point even that seems unlikely, but it could still happen.

Also, while the extension in China will help a little, don't expect too much from it. The theatre count will be very low starting Chinese New Year, when a plethora of new films will release.

Yeah, more likely than not we're looking at the finish line for this film (which, at basically a month, seems kind of short), but I guess things turned out okay.

I just added another $11.20 to that total.

    Second viewing is definitely better.

It's grossed more than Rampage and Warcraft with similar budget

Bumblebee didn't do great in Australia. Weird, Australia generally likes the TF movies but it's all but disappeared from the cinemas here.
