Yet, sadly, I bet a certain Paramount exec who shall remain nameless, would actually co-sign that. . .

Reminder that it took Hasbro and Paramount entire 14 months to even get close to admit TLK was a financial flop and flat out lied about it being succesful even at the face of any form of contrary evidence.

You will not truly know how well this movie did til next year.

About what you'd expect, a sidestep answer about how "well look even if it performed worse than past films the toyline still performed better than non-movie years" and in paramount's case they said "yes we do get the feeling that franchise fatigue MIGHT BE setting in so thats why its important to make the Bumblebee movie have a different tone and feel to avoid fatigue".

I don't know about that. I'm not an expert, but I think they will be less hesitant to report good news (Bumblebee) as opposed to bad news (the poor performance of TLK).

That is not my point, my point is that they've outright lied about good news until a year later they backtracked on original claims of success.

They can say "oh yeah were uh totally happy with Bumblebee now" but we'll never truly know if it profited, we'll never truly know how much money was spent on it and more. We will only know how well a movie truly did years from now when we see if they're still making them or not.

You are making a good point. Paramount never really made their actual loss known until the good word of mouth started after the initial test screenings of Bumblebee. That being said, Paramount/Hasbro will likely showcase the critical acclaim more than the profit they made. Hollywood will never say anything is a loss unless they want to show the world that they have "changed to good" because of that loss. Hasbro agent here never declared the failure of the TLK toyline. Even when I asked. They just stopped abruptly and went off the grid until a new agent took over.

That's what I'm saying - they lied/stalled on the truth about TLK because it was bad news.

Huh, what? Viacom confirmed that it's profitable. They couldn't lie either as it's a publicly traded company and investors could sue.

Just ignore this troll. He probably thinks The Last jedi was a flop as well even though it profited well over a billion.

I see we have the target audience for the likes of TLJ which suffered a loss in comparison to TFA and then ultimately was that bad that Solo was affected. Troll.

Yes. The few people who wanted it to flop and go back to the old? That's not an option. The two options are it succeeds, and gets sequels, or it flops, and there's no movies for some time as the franchise shuts down for the time being. This is the saving throw that only happened because it was already too far in the works to cancel.

    Wow, called it dead-on.

If by target audience you mean lifelong Star Wars fan(since 1979) who stayed true as a fan during the drought of the late 80’s and much of the 90’s, collected everything Star Wars, read all the books, went to conventions, etc-then yes I am. I also loved TLJ. Now I’m going to take my own advice and ignore the troll.
