That’s only true if you were born in the 80s/had a significant portion of your childhood in the 80s. A 90s kid would say the same thing (Pokemon, Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball Z, Disney Renaissance, etc) and in a few years 00s kids will be claiming the same thing.

 

But they are not the main force behind the ticket sales. If we're going with that logic I think it's high time to focus on BW generation and have a Beast Wars movie. A lot of people are forgetting (or actively erasing from public consciousness) that between 1986 and 2007 we had other, also successful properties.

It’s about on par where the studio thought it would be. Maybe slightly underperforming due to heavy competition. They really should’ve moved the release up a week. Glowing reviews and good word of mouth should push it to the $130-$150million range here in the US with a slightly larger overseas minus China haul. China is key to pushing it over $400m and making it a financial success.

 

We really want to see it hold close to its first weekend gross in its second weekend. Since it opened so low it is not out of the realm of possibility for that to happen. Anything more than a 20% drop and I will revise my predictions.
